Skybound Entertainment has revealed early access release date for its much-anticipated third-person action game, The Walking Dead: Betrayal, slated to become available on Steam on September 14. The game, developed in collaboration with Other Ocean Interactive — known for their critically acclaimed stealth survival game Project Winter — features a unique blend of cooperative and deceptive gameplay mechanics.

Set in the rural landscapes of Canada, the eight-player game pits survivors against not just hordes of walkers but also “traitors” within their own ranks. Players are tasked with gathering resources, completing objectives, and repairing escape routes, all while contending with sabotage from unidentified traitors among them. As the group becomes increasingly suspicious of sabotage, dynamics of trust and betrayal add a psychological layer to the gameplay, amplifying the tension. To offer players a hands-on experience, The Walking Dead: Betrayal will host a free-play weekend on Steam from 8 pm BST on September 14th to 8 pm BST on September 18th.

The development team is utilizing an official Discord channel to disseminate regular updates and details regarding the game. Players can purchase Early Access via The Walking Dead: Betrayal’s Steam page, and doing so will unlock the Rick Grimes skin for free.
