A Plague Tale Requiem – New Game Plus Explained

a plague tale new game plus

For those curious, A Plague Tale Requiem does indeed feature a new game plus mode! Here’s everything about it, from what it does, what you keep, to even what you get for beating it. Check out our handy A Plague Tale Requiem New Game Plus guide.

Does A Plague Tale Requiem Have New Game Plus?

Contrary to the first game, A Plague Tale Requiem does have a new game plus mode that is unlocked once you complete it on any difficulty level.

What’s New in A Plague Tale Requiem New Game Plus, and What Do You Keep?

NG+ in A Plague Tale Requiem is similar to many other NG+ in other games. You get to keep all the collectible (codex) items you found on your first playthrough, as well as all the upgrades and skills you’ve unlocked. However, unlike a lot of other titles, this mode is locked to the new “ultimate difficulty” level, which is also unlocked after you complete the game for the first time. That means that you won’t be able to play on the lower difficulties (as far as we can tell). Hopefully that changes in a future update.

With a new difficulty level, players will find a higher level of challenges with enemies that are smarter, and deal more damage. They can detect the players a lot more easily, and it only takes about two hits from them to die. Outside of that, we are unsure if the ultimate difficulty does anything else.

What Do You Get For Beating New Game Plus in A Plague Tale Requiem?

If you’re hoping for some kind of grand reward outside of some achievements, you may be disappointed to know that the only thing you get is the Count’s crossbow, one of four unlockable cosmetics in the game for your crossbow. A bit lackluster if we’re honest, though does leave room for some potential DLC we suppose.

There you have it, now you know everything there is about NG + in A Plague Tale Requiem. Hopefully this short guide has cleared up some of the few questions you may have had, and if you’re looking for more guides, be sure to check out our official A Plague Tale Requiem guide page. Well have more posted there throughout the day, so stay tuned!

Without a NG++ option I can’t play A Plague Tale Requiem with skills/upgrades unlocked. If I want to play it again I still have to upgrade everything again and get 100 % on 2 skills. It sucks. Hope that they add this in the future .
