Cyberpunk 2077 - How to Start the Phantom Liberty Expansion

Whether you’re a returning player or a newcomer interested in trying out the latest Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, we’ve got you covered as we show you exactly how to start the Phantom Liberty expansion in Cyberpunk 2077.

How to Start the Phantom Liberty Expansion in Cyberpunk 2077:

There are a couple of ways to start the expansion, all of which we’ll go over.

The first option is directly from the main menu itself. If you aren’t looking to start a fresh save and just want to jump straight into Phantom Liberty, you can do so from the main menu by selecting “new game”, which will bring up the option to jump into Phantom Liberty immediately.

This will skip through the game’s intro, and first act, though you’ll still get the opportunity to create your character before continuing with this option. Once you load in, you’ll immediately get a call from an unknown caller, and thus, your journey into Dogtown can begin.

If you’re an experienced Cyberpunk 2077 player and have completed the campaign already and want to continue with your save, all you’ll need to do is load it up, and an unknown caller will contact you shortly after roaming around. If she doesn’t, you can try to skip time from the main menu, then save your game, and if that doesn’t work, reload the save you just made. Sometimes, this forces quests to pop up.

The final option is to play through the main campaign as is. This is the recommended choice from CD Projekt Red, as update 2.0 introduces several new features and overhauls, and playing through the base game will get you better familiarized with them. But you don’t have to beat the campaign to access Phantom Liberty, as it’ll be available as soon as you finish Act 1 of the game. The unknown caller will call you, and the quest line will be available for you to pick back up anytime.

That’s all there is to it! Whatever you choose, know that none lock you out of content besides the skip to Phantom Liberty, as it skips the first act. New players won’t want to skip anything, but it’s nice having this option there for returning one who wants to go straight to Phantom Liberty.

Oh, and for those who haven’t played Cyberpunk 2077 since its release, you may want to know that CDPR also added an Edgerunner quest to tie in with the anime last year. To get started, follow our quick guide, and you’ll soon be sporting some cool Edgerunner gear.
