God of War Ragnarok Final Crucible Puzzle Explanation Guide:

When you first arrive in Muspelheim after collecting the Yggdrasil Seed, you’ll have access to The Crucible, a set of challenges to test your skills. You’ll notice a massive sword in the middle of the arena, with three paths splitting from it to three other blades. Each sword has one different letter markings, and initially, each sword offers two different challenges. 

Players must complete all six challenges to finish the first part of this quest line. After completing them, the center sword will become accessible, with three new challenges, one at each. 

You’ll need to complete all three as they count towards the final challenges. What seems to be confusing players is what’s causing the blade in the center to activate with a new challenge. The answer to this is related to the Norse marking on the other three blades. 

These markings are used to input a combination in the center blade. Three markings, but a total of six different combinations.

The game does show you some of the combinations you’ve done via the markings on the ground by the big blade. If they’re  glowing, you still need to do that combination of challenges. If they aren’t, it means you’ve completed that set. There are four around the blade, with the other two near where the chest spawns. 

I found it annoying to track them like this, so the best tip I can give you is to start from the left and make your way to the right for Crucible challenges. This means you complete a challenge on the blade with F first, then go to the middle one (N). This will unlock a new challenge in the big center blade. Once you complete that, go back and start with F (left,) and then go to the far right and activate the blade with the N marking. 

So following this method, this will be the order of all the combinations you have to do to unlock the last set of challenges.

As long as you are properly equipped, you should be able to beat each new challenge that gets unlocked. They’re all self explanatory, so no real tips I can offer you there, but I do hope this article at least cleared up some confusion you may have had.
