ARC Raiders Fan Pitches a Rather Terrifying Idea for Tumbleweeds
It’s been almost a week since the ARC Raiders Server Slam playtest ended, and fans are still running high off their experience. I mean, who can blame them? The soon-to-be-released extraction shooter is already proving to be a pretty popular one on socials, with many itching to get back into action next week.
But amongst all the talks came a rather unexpected discussion, one centered around rolling balls of debris. We’re talking about the tumbleweeds, which, although innocent, players have been confusing with real enemies. The panic is very real when you see a small object moving in the distance. But that has sparked an idea in the community: what if, instead of being harmless balls of dead plants, these tumbleweeds were turned into actual machines that attack players? Sounds like something out of a nightmare, and one fan has even illustrated what they might even look like.

Here’s one idea that those with arachnophobia aren’t going to like. Although many of the PvE enemies resemble spiders, this next one makes them even creepier. As shared on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram by artist ReffiComics, this fan-made enemy sees the ARC machines assume the guise of a tumbleweed, which actively stalks and pounces on unexpected raiders.

I hate this so much, but it’s so damn good. Very rarely do I agree with a community idea as much as this one, and it just makes so much sense given the world of ARC Raiders. Now, whether or not Embark Studios decides to act on this idea from the community is anyone’s guess, but we certainly wouldn’t be against it.
ARC Raiders officially releases on October 30, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
In other ARC Raiders news, Embark has said they are eyeing the extraction shooter as a 10-year game, and explained why there’s no roadmap for it.
