It’s no secret by now that the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection by Aspyr hasn’t been a smooth launch. From crashing, server issues and more, the game has even gotten a “don’t buy” warning from players due to how messy it is currently.
The studio has made a statement about it, and have acknowledged the “critical errors” tied to the game’s servers as well.
“We’d like to thank the Battlefront community for their overwhelming support and feedback for the STAR WARS™ Battlefront Classic Collection release.
At launch, we experienced critical errors with our network infrastructure. The result was incredibly high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and servers not appearing in the browser.
Since launch, we’ve been working to address these issues and increase network stability, and we will continue our efforts until our network infrastructure is stabilized to prevent further outages.
Please continue to report bugs, errors, or unexpected behaviors to our support team via our Request Form
The Aspyr Team”
Oddly enough, Aspyr didn’t really mention that they’ll release patches to fix some of the game’s technical issues, but we’re hoping a few are on the way.
If you haven’t played it yet, we suggest holding off on buying it for now, as our review states, “Making these games accessible on modern systems is great, sure. Making them accessible by modern standards would have been better. The Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a delightful and painful romp through old stomping grounds that will likely lose its short-lived luster in a matter of weeks.”
