Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! has been officially outed for over a month now, but Gearbox Software and 2K Australia have been keeping awfully ever since.
Luckily, franchise director of Borderlands, Matt Armstrong, has recently provided some insight into the game’s development over Twitter during a recent playtest. You can check out some of the highlights below.
Tommy Westerman – Character designer – is playing as Athena. I’m Wilhelm. Jon Hemmingway is going to be Nisha with a caveat – NO JAKOBS!

Jonathan tends to favor Jakobs when he’s Nisha. We want to make him play differently. And Josh Jeffcoat is our friendly Claptrap unit. — MisterArmstrong (@MisterArmstrong) May 6, 2014
Tommy just shut off the Oxygen while we were chatting out of the game and we all went into down state. Tommy is a developer troll.

Red Belly is killing the hell out of us. — MisterArmstrong (@MisterArmstrong) May 6, 2014
There’s something exceptionally satisfying about recovering from a knock back attack with a burst of oxygen.

Ice gun, Ice grenade, Ice slam. Wilhelm has gone all ice all the time. Heavily focused on his more offensive skill tree.

Claptrap at level 19 is a beast. An annoying beast, but a beast.

Presequel gets so much more fun once you get past level 15. How would people feel about us tweaking the XP curve to speed the early game?

Keep in mind that the information above is subject to change as Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! is obviously still in its development stages. Nothing is set in stone as of yet.
But with that said, judging by the series of tweets from Armstrong, it appears that Nisha The Law Bringer will indeed be heavily focused on using Jakob’s weaponry, as we speculated before. Also, according to Armstrong’s time with Wilhelm The Enforcer during the latest playtest, it appears Wilhelm’s offensive skill tree will consist of skills that caters to Ice elemental loot.
Furthermore, despite Claptrap’s comedic nature in the Borderlands series, it looks like he’ll no longer be mere cannon fodder. According to Armstrong, Claptrap is will indeed be a capable playable character.
The most interesting tid-bit of information from the series of tweets is that Gearbox/2k Australia seem open on changing what level you unlock your action skill from level five to level three, giving players an earlier look at what each class is capable of.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set to be released sometime this Fall for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms.
Which character will you be playing as first?
