Cat Quest 3 Review

For those playing Cat Quest 3 that launches today, are you looking forward to the next entry already after finishing this one? If so, you’ll be waiting for quite a while, as developer The Gentlebros will be working on a different project after the third game in the action-RPG franchise.

This was revealed by Desmond Wong, who’s not only the co-founder of The Gentlebros, but also the art direction and game design for Cat Quest 3! Speaking to MP1st, Wong confirmed that they want to make a new game in a different genre before they come back to the Cat Quest franchise.

MP1st: The big obvious is how each game ends with being part of a larger story, with the third game being teased throughout as the “last” part before we get what is called the “Catpocalypse.” Do you think it’s safe to say the next game will finally tell the story of that? Are there any hints of what we can expect from it? I picture Mad Max, but with cats, “wink, wink.”

Wong: Yes, the next mainline Cat Quest game will be about the Apawcalypse. Before that though, we want to make a new game in a different genre before we come back to the Cat Quest series. As for hints to what the next Cat Quest game will be about, why would we want to spoil the surprise! 😉

If you’re not familiar with Cat Quest, the franchise debuted back in 2017 on consoles, PC and even mobile devices. After that, Cat Quest 2 was released in 2019 for the same platforms, and today, Cat Quest 3 was released. If you’re thinking of picking it up, our review of it was very favorable stating, “Cat Quest 3 is a game that won’t break any new ground, shake up the industry, or earn GOTY awards. But it’s such a charming, quirky, enjoyable good time that anyone who knows what to expect will simply love it to bits.”

Although Cat Quest 3 is a good game i hope the next game is longer and has more content. The estimated time to beat Cat Quest 3 and do everything 100% is between 8 and 10 hours.
