CD Projekt RED: New Witcher Trilogy to Be Released in 6-Year Period, Project Sirius Will Feature Multiplayer

new Witcher trilogy

CD Projekt RED unleashed a couple of bombs today with the announcement of a new The Witcher trilogy, Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel and more brewing at the studio. However, CDPR wasn’t done there.

In a video presentation titled the CD Projekt Group Strategy Update: Long-Term Product Outlook, I’m Adam Kiciński President and Joint CEO of CDPR shared that the first three releases in the company’s pipeline will belong to The Witcher franchise. Out of the first three games, two are already in pre-production, and what’s more, the studio plans to deliver all three games over a six-year period staring with the release of Polaris, which is The Witcher game that was announced earlier this year. Another game included in the new The Witcher trilogy is Project Sirius, which has been confirmed today to feature multiplayer that will gamers play with others.

What makes CDPR confident in this new timeline plan regarding three large-scale productions is with the technology, as the studio aims to for the second and third Witcher game to benefit greatly from Polaris’ groundwork, which will make development of the other titles much smoother.

Finally, for the last Witcher game in the trilogy, which is codenamed Canis Majoris, this will be a full-fledged Witcher production, though it will be developed by an external studio who are “headed by experienced developers who have worked on earlier Witcher games.”

Given how awesome The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was, I’m optimistic that CDPR has learned their lesson with Cyberpunk 2077. Let’s hope the studio can recapture the franchise’s old magic, and if that’s the case, we have a very awesome six years of Witcher gaming waiting for us.
