CD Projekt Red Reaffirms The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Will Be Out in 2021, The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Teased

Cyberpunk 2077 Steam Concurrent Player Count

Geralt of Rivia fans who want to play the character’s adventures for newer systems can rest easy, as CD Projekt Red reaffirms that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next gen will be out in the second half of 2021 — just as The Witcher 4 gets teased!

In a tweet made by the lead PR manager of CD Projekt Red named Radek, the next-gen update for The Witcher 3 is expected to hit this year for those who already own the game as well as being available as a stand alone purchase for newcomers.

Meanwhile The Witcher 4 has reportedly been teased along with a possible Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, as CD Projekt Red has announced that parallel AAA development will start some time in 2022 — while also putting out images that feature the backs of Geralt and V, aka the two protagonists of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 respectively.

While this image does not confirm or state that they are actually The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, it’s a good bet to speculate that they could be just that or follow-ups/ spin-offs at the very least. The Witcher series has already proven itself to be a massively popular IP that CD Projekt Red can bank on, while Cyberpunk 2077’s disappointing launch and numerous game breaking bugs have left the game in a sorry state. Getting a sequel at those point would be too early since the first game needs to be fixed first — but it would also help CD Projekt Red in the road to redemption and recovery after that devastating launch.

Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, Patch 1.20 already went live and has fixed numerous bugs in the game — which you can read about here.
