Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Will Feature Microtransactions

New Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay

While we already know that Cyberpunk will feature multiplayer of some kind, it wasn’t known whether microstransactions would be a part of it. Today, that changed, as CD Projekt RED has confirmed that Cyberpunk multiplayer microtransactions will be a thing!

Posting over on the official Cyberpunk Twitter, here’s what the studio had to say:

Nothing changed. Cyberpunk 2077 is a single player game with zero microtransactions. One single purchase. No tricks. Don’t believe the clickbait.

Cyberpunk multiplayer/online, which is a separate project, will have some microtransactions, but we said that a year ago already. Like always, expect us treating your money with respect.

Given CD Projekt RED’s history, I suspect the Cyberpunk multiplayer microtransactions will consist mostly of weapon, character skins and the like, which is perfectly fine in my book. As long as these things don’t affect gameplay, then it’s fine, since gamers should be OK with letting developers earn outside the $60 boxed product.

Cybperunk’s multiplayer component while confirmed, still has no definite released date. Given the game’s original release has been pushed to November 19, the studio confirmed that the multiplayer component has also been pushed back as well.

Are you OK with Cyberpunk’s multiplayer featuring microtransactions or it shouldn’t be part of the game at all? Let us know your thoughts down below.
