EA Sports WRC Crashing Due to Leap Year; Here’s How to Fix

EA Sports WRC Crashing

We’re no strangers to seeing bugs crash games or cause issues, but this is probably the first time we’ve seen an actual date crash a game. Well, that’s apparently the case with EA Sports WRC. The racing game seems to crash on start up and it’s all due to today being a Leap Year with February having more days than usual.

EA Sports WRC Crashing Leap year Fix:

Here’s how to fix it according to the official EA Help Twitter account:

Guidance for PlayStation players:

  1. On your console, go to Settings > System > Date and Time > Set Date and Time > Set Manually.
  2. Change the date to March 1, 2024.
  3. Once this change has been done, the game should function normally.

While that’s an easy fix, not everyone might be aware that it’s the date that’s causing the issue.

Released in November 2023, EA Sports WRC is made by Codemasters, who EA purchased for exactly this purpose. Before this, Codemasters used its driving sim expertise for the DiRT Rally racing series, which is essentially what EA Sports WRC is only with a re-brand.
