Final Fantasy 16 “The Rising Tide” DLC Releases April 18; Quality of Life Features Incoming

Remember seven months ago when Square Enix confirmed that two paid DLC expansions are incoming for Final Fantasy 16? While we already got Echoes of the Fallen last December, we now know the title of the other one, and it’s Final Fantasy 16’s “The Rising Tide” DLC.

This was revealed by Square Enix during the PAX East 2024 livestream, where it also mentions that Final Fantasy 16  The Rising Tide DLC will be released this April 18, 2024 for $19.99! There will also be a discounted Expansion Pass containing both The Rising Tide and Echoes of the Fallen for just $24.99.

In addition to the DLC, everyone will also get a slew of quality-of-life improvements in an upcoming title update.

Some of the confirmed improvements in the title update dubbed version 1.30 are:

  • Return to a quest giver immediately with new “Quick Complete” function
  • Icons update for important character quests
  • New Skill Set feature allows you to save up to 5 unique Feat and Ability sets
  • Abilities and Accessories adjusted to make easier to use
  • New controller type allows for customizable button layouts

Chances are, this quality-of-life improvements will be released the same day as the DLC, as is the case with these kind of things.

While we are getting new DLC for the game, don’t expect a direct sequel for it, as the dev team has already disbanded.

If you’ve yet to play FF16 (FFXVI), I suggest you remedy that, as it’s one heck of an RPG. Our review can be read in full here where we state, “Those looking for the series’ return to glory, rejoice! Final Fantasy XVI is that game, and this is one fantasy you’ll want to make sure you’re a part of.”

Thanks, RPGMoogle!
