Square Enix and Luminous Productions have just released the new Forspoken gameplay overview trailer at gamescom 2022. The new trailer is 10-minutes long and it focuses on its protagonist, Frey Holland, and her journey from modern-day New York to the treacherous land of Athia.

The Forspoken Gameplay overview trailer also includes an overview of the new fantasy RPG game’s combat system, exploration, and Frey’s magical abilities. It also includes our deepest look yet at Cipal, the last remaining haven where Athians take refuge from the powerful force that corrupts everything it touches known as the Break.

Here is a brief description of the mission shown off in the trailer:

The gameplay trailer follows Frey on a quest from Athian archivist Johedy, as she ventures into the wilds of two corrupted areas, Praenost and Avoalet. The two realms featured in the trailer give players a glimpse of the different enemies they will encounter and showcases the versatility of Frey’s magical combat skills. Players can choose to wreak magical havoc on enemies, fighting in a controlled frenzy and unleashing a barrage of quick-fire spells or they can take a more methodical approach wielding powerful and calculated attacks on their adversaries. In Forspoken, no two fights are ever the same.

It is worth noting that Square Enix has recently delayed Forspoken to 2023. The studio promises the game’s elements are all now complete and the development is currently only working on polishing the final product. 

Forspoken is now available for pre-order on the game’s official website. It is releasing early next year on January 24, 2023,  on the PS5 and PC.
