Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss to Remain the Only Permanent Endgame Content to Prevent Player “Anxiety”

Following the launch of Update 3.1 “King Deshret and the Three Magi” for Genshin Impact,  developer miHoYo discussed the game’s future roadmap as well as its existing content with GameSpot. Among other things, the developers confirmed that Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss will remain the game’s only permanent endgame content to prevent “anxiety” for players.

The Spiral Abyss is a special challenge-based Domain in Genshin Impact with large in-game currency rewards. While access to the Domain opens after just Adventure Rank 20, the rewards for the first eight stages (Abyssal Corridor) can only be collected once.

The final four stages (Abyssal Moon Spire), designed for endgame players, are notoriously difficult, but are reset twice a month with new enemies and elemental features. Each reset bears up to 600 Primogems and 585000 Mora along with other consumable rewards, making the Abyssal Moon Spire a critical part of the free-to-play gacha experience.

As a result, endgame players invest a great deal of time and energy into designing ideal parties and conquering each Abyssal Moon Spire challenge before it expires.

The studo, while standing by the Spiral Abyss’ utility and challenges, do not plan to add any other permanent endgame content, fearing that doing so would create additional stress for players.

The Spiral Abyss is one of the most effective ways [for] players [to] test out their party composition and combat strength. If we design another type of permanent endgame that is similar to the Spiral Abyss, it might end up creating excessive anxiety for our players–not everyone is interested in Musk Reef.

Just like [the] Genius Invokation TCG that we unveiled in the Special Program for Version 3.2, we are also working on designing more interesting gameplay in the future. As an open-world game, Genshin Impact has a natural compatibility with various types of gameplay, which gives us confidence in the long-term operation.

It’s disappointing news for F2P players seeking additional Primogem sources, but makes sense overall. Designing an additional timesink for players that are already struggling with Abyssal Moon Spire challenges does not sound like a wise decision regardless of how expensive the gacha system is.

On a lighter note, check out the details of the on-going HoYo Fest 2022 event taking place all across Southeast Asia.

Disappointing for f2p players? Dude, and people who spend a lot of money to get the most out of the R5 weapon’s C6 char, we support this game and want endgame content where a maxed char will really be necessary to be able to enjoy its potential.

Want to know what causes “stress” in me?? A long talk of shit on at least 70% of the story without a skip button, the need to look for specials to ascend characters since the distribution and respawn is totally random and bad, the need to do daily quests, are horrible , never having won 1 50/50 even in these two years of play, the waste of time cultivating artifacts to almost never get something really good (in 2 years I got 1 single good set of the Crimson Witch, 2 years to get it, TWO YEARS ). This kind of thing does cause anxiety and stress in me and not an endgame content that wouldn’t even need to have its prize in gems, it could be mora, skill books, item to reroll in artifact substat..etc…etc.. Anyway, it was an excuse from mihoyo and a bad one.
