God of War Ragnarok Next Update Out on March 20; Brings Kratos Back to His Roots

Rumors have been swirling for months that Santa Monica Studio and Sony were gearing up to announce a God of War Greek Saga Collection, which would include all the prior God of War games before the 2018 release in a single remastered bundle.
Sadly, though, Santa Monica Studio confirmed we won’t be seeing any game announcements. It seems the only collection we can expect is one for God of War Ragnarok, which will be coming in its next update due on March 20.
God of War 20th Anniversary Collection Announced, But Not the Collection You Were Expecting
Dubbed the “Dark Odyssey Collection,” God of War Ragnarok is getting a whole new set of cosmetics that sees a past God of War skin make its way into God of War Ragnarok.
Dark Odyssey Armor & Appearance for Kratos
- Dark Odyssey Kratos Appearance
- Dark Odyssey Armor Set for Kratos (Dark Odyssey Breastplate, Dark Odyssey Bracers, Dark Odyssey Belt)
Atreus and Freya are getting new items as as part of the Dark Odyssey Collection too.
Dark Odyssey Companion Armor
- Dark Odyssey Vestment for Atreus
- Dark Odyssey Witch Frock for Freya
Dark Odyssey Weapon Appearances & Attachments*
- Dark Odyssey Leviathan Axe [Appearance] & Dark Odyssey Knob [Attachment]
- Dark Odyssey Blades of Chaos [Appearance] & Dark Odyssey Handles [Attachment]
- Dark Odyssey Draupnir Spear [Appearance] & Dark Odyssey Hind [Attachment]
Dark Odyssey Shield Appearances & Rönd
- Dark Odyssey Guardian Shield [Appearance]
- Dark Odyssey Dauntless Shield [Appearance]
- Dark Odyssey Stone Wall Shield [Appearance]
- Dark Odyssey Shatter Start Shield [Appearance]
- Dark Odyssey Onslaught Shield [Appearance]
- Dark Odyssey Spartan Aspis Shield [Appearance]
- Dark Odyssey Rönd
Santa Monica Studo also confirmed, “With the addition of the new Dark Odyssey weapon attachments and shield rönd in the upcoming patch on March 20, we will add the ability to use the ‘Edit Appearance’ feature on those components of Kratos’ arsenal.”
This means players will be able to pick whatever visual suits their look with the build they have in mind.
I’m all for new content, especially for one of my favorite games, but being the 20th anniversary of the franchise, I was hoping to see a lot more. I suppose the fault lies in the rumors and us, and many others, believing them, but with Sony remasting so many titles as of late, it did seem like a high probability that we would get one. Who knows? It’s only March, and we still have nine more months left in the year, so there’s still a possibility we’ll get that announcement, though it’s highly unlikely.
Once the patch download for God of War Ragnarok is live, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Yeah sorry but these modern GoW games were so boring and just generic hack and slash games that ruined Kratos as a character. I want a classic collection to be remastered (1,2 and the handheld games since 3 was already remastered for PS4)
