God of War Ragnarok to Feature Unique Enemies in Each of the Nine Realms

God of War Ragnarok Enemy

God of War Ragnarok will feature major improvements in terms of combat and enemy variety from its 2018 predecessor. In a new video, Santa Monica has confirmed that God of War Ragnarok will feature different and unique enemy types in all the nine realms you will visit.

Combat Designer Stephen Oyarijivbie sat down with other magicians over at the God of War Ragnarok team at Santa Monica Studio and explains how they heard the community asking for “more mini-bosses, bigger creatures, and enemy variety” and have worked to improve that.

Oyarijivbie then goes on to confirm that in God of War Ragnarok, players will find a unique theme of the enemy and different enemy types in each of the nine realms they visit. They also unveil a new enemy called the Light Elf Warrior, and a bigger never-seen-before lizard creature in the video.

Other than that, the developers talk about there being a better balance in combat design, new combat mechanics for traversing, and most importantly Atreus being more independent. The developers explain how Atreus has grown up and will live less in his father’s shadow, and is confident and eager to work more independently.

We’re heading to Alfheim, land of the elves, for Episode 2 of the God of War Ragnarök Behind the Scenes series.

This episode will explore how the team at Santa Monica Studio is elevating the fluid and expressive combat of God of War Ragnarök, as well as the importance of building a unique, memorable, and varied cast of enemies for players to test their skill against.

However, there are God of War Ragnarok spoilers out in the wild, therefore you might want to be a tad bit more careful when scrolling through social media. You can check out our hands-on preview of Ragnarok here, where our editor clearly enjoyed what he played a lot.
