Although the announcement of God of War Trilogy Remake — together with Sons of Sparta — during the recent State of Play surprised many fans, the big question is how Kratos’ return will look.

The answer may have come from Chris Judge, the voice of the former God of War in the Norse saga. He hinted at a new combat system that will also appear in the new game from Santa Monica Studio.

Not only that, but this new project — which could be the one led by Corey Barlog — will reportedly be shown this summer, ahead of its rumored release in 2027.

Everything started with a YouTube video published by streamer Fuzhpuzy, who approached Judge to greet him and ask a few questions. Although the video has since been deleted, clips of the conversation quickly spread online, showing her speaking with the voice actor about upcoming projects.

It is worth noting that he does not seem aware that the streamer is recording or streaming live, which may explain why he speaks so openly.

At first, he confirms that it is an exclusive job for Terrence C. Carson and that it is not a reboot of the series because they are testing new technology. Shortly after, he mentions the “new fighting system” and says that once again it will feature the original voice of Kratos from the Greek saga.

He also confirms that “you will be able to see what we are doing, probably, late summer.” Could we see surprises at a dedicated Sony event? Only time will tell.

In other news, new screenshots show what the cancelled God of War multiplayer game could have been, with Greek temples, Hades’ Armory, and early gameplay designs.

Ugh, if they are just reusing the engine for the last two GoW games and its all over the should third person I will be pissed. I don’t want modern GoW in my beautiful overhead hack and slash games. Modern GoW sucks. I just want HD revamps of 1-3 with that same gameplay. I wonder if this is what Sony meant when they said ‘no PS5 price hike, we’ll just monetize everything else’… Gonna use the new GoW engine so they can sell skins for weapons, armor pieces, and introduce live service crap like rotating dungeons you can unlock with a battle pass or some crap. Ugh. I was so hyped and ready to replay 1-3 and now I am on a wait and see mode. The moment they announce over the shoulder third person combat, I am out.

I enjoy modern GoW a lot, BUT that should not be what classic GoW should be. Cause if they revamp them to be more in line with the new games, that’s not going to end well
