Gran Turismo 7 Delayed to 2022

Gran Turismo 7 Beta Developer Build

In news that should shock no one familiar with the franchise, Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7 release has been officially pushed back to 2022, with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic cited as the main cause.

Sony has confirmed this in phone interview with GQ. In the call with PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, a Sony rep jumped amd issued the following statement:

“GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.”

Given how past games in the franchise has been delayed numerous times, I can’t say I’m surprised. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic has definitely made it harder to make games, and I can’t say I blame Sony or Polyphony for this. I’d rather have a great Grant Turismo 7 game than one that was rushed.
