Gran Turismo Sport Fully Playable Offline With Saving Enabled Thanks to Modders

Since the release of Gran Turismo Sport, Polyphony has made online a requirement for it and Gran Turismo 7. While disappointing, the big reason was to prevent potential online cheating. Whether or not that was enough to justify the always-online aspect, both titles do, in the least, offer offline play, granted it’s minimal with no way to save progress. Well, it seems that one avid modder has taken it upon themselves to correct this, as they have created a way for you to experience GT Sport fully offline with saving enabled. The only downside is you’ll need a jailbroken PS4.

Initially discovered by scene researcher/modder Nenkai, with the implementation and executable created by illusion (creator of some notable unofficial 60 frames-per-second patches like Uncharted, Gravity Rush, and more), below you’ll find a video demonstrating this offline saving patch.

As mentioned before, the only way you’ll be able to use this patch is via a jailbroken PS4. Nonetheless, this is pretty awesome to see. In the unlikely event that Polyphony Digital ever decided to close down GT Sport’s servers, this may be the only way to preserve the title in a playable state should the studio never officially release a patch to save offline.

It’ll be interesting to see if this can be achieved on Gran Turismo 7, as while it does offer offline play, it’s only for the arcade mode and doesn’t offer any way to save progression.
