An old standing Xbox trick is allowing players who pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 to play a bit earlier than expected. Want to play Cyberpunk 2077 early? On Xbox platforms? Here’s how to do it.
Earlier last week, CD Projekt Red announced the global launch time for their highly anticipated title, Cyberpunk 2077. While PC players will need to wait until 7 p.m. ET today in order for the title to be playable, console players can play the moment their region hits midnight, effectively being December 10.
The wait is almost over!

Well, as of right now the title is now officially available in regions such as New Zealand. For those who are familiar with how Microsoft handles their digital pre-orders on Xbox consoles, you may delighted to know that changing your timezone and location also bumps the unlock timer to said region. Yep, that6right if you are living stateside and other countries where the game is yet to be released, you can now play Cyberpunk 2077 in a few short steps.
To change your console timezone, all you have to do is navigate to Profile & system > Settings > System and the select time, then timezone.
Change your country/region on Xbox One per official Xbox support page.
When you make your first purchase in the new region, you’ll be prompted to update your billing info.
- Sign in to your Xbox One console.
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Select Settings > All Settings > System > Language & location.
- Select your new location from the Location list, and then select Restart now.
Cyberpunk2077 should now be playable on your Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S! Again, this trick is by no means new, but for those who are wondering it does indeed work with Cyberpunk.
As for PS4 and PS5 players, you will still need to wait until the respective regional unlock time as pre-orders are tied to the specific region storefront you purchased from. The only way to play early on either console is either by an early physical copy, or by buying the game off a New Zealand account. The latter option could mean spending more due to currency conversion rates, and it ties the purchase to a new account. Not really recommended, but it is an option.
