Modern Warfare 4 Beta Dates and Content Announced; COD Next Set for Aug. 21
In about a month, players from all around the world will be able to try Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, as the game’s beta will kick off in August.
Not only did Activision reveal the beta dates today, but also what we can expect in its first week, as well as a new trailer for Kill Block, and even details on this year’s Call of Duty Next event.
For those looking to snag the game on Switch 2, pre-orders for that version will begin August 26.
Modern Warfare 4 Beta Schedule and Info
- Call of Duty: Next is coming on August 21: A global event featuring live gameplay, a full Multiplayer content briefing, and new reveals ahead of beta
- Modern Warfare 4 Beta kicks off August 21:
- Weekend One (Early Access): August 21-25 for players who pre-order on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, or PC
- Weekend Two (Open Beta): August 28-September 1, open to players on all platforms including Nintendo Switch 2, no pre-order required
Players can expect the following when the beta kicks off:
- Play across multiple Multiplayer maps and modes.
- Choose from a roster of new Operators, including all Vault Edition Operators for Vault Edition pre-orders.
- Unlock up to 19 weapons during the beta.
- Experience modes ranging from 3v3 skirmishes to large-scale battles with tanks.
- Play classic modes like Search & Destroy alongside the new Kill Block mode.
- Try the Training Mobility Course to practice movement skills.
There’s also a new trailer released for Kill Block, Modern Warfare 4’s new dynamic map that has over 500 combinations.
Activision has also announced the Serialized Weapon Camo Challenge that will be available to Black Ops 7 players, and the rewards will carry over to Modern Warfare 4.
- Serialized Weapon Camo Challenge: Pre-order Modern Warfare 4 before Black Ops 7 Season 05 launches on July 23 to instantly unlock the Moonlit Pearl Universal Camo, plus a Challenge to earn the Gilded Ruin Universal Camo. The first 100,000 players to complete the Challenge get a uniquely serialized version of Gilded Ruin. Both camos carry over to Modern Warfare 4 at launch.

In related news, the Call of Duty movie is confirmed to be set in the Modern Warfare universe, which is something I assume most fans of the franchise were hoping for.
