MultiVersus Open Beta Shutting Down June 25, Full Launch Set for 2024; Offline Play to Remain Available

Multiversus open beta shutting down

Free-to-play platform fighting game MultiVersus’ open beta is shutting down on June 25 this year, with it set to return for a full launch in early 2024. The game will feature new content, modes, and other features when it relaunches next year.

A recent tweet by the official MultiVersus Twitter account shared an announcement video on the open beta closure.

Interestingly enough, players who have downloaded the game before the open beta shuts down will have access to its offline features, including the training mode (otherwise known as The Lab) and local play. This will allow players to either practice their favorite characters while waiting for launch or enjoy the game with friends locally. It is worth mentioning, however, that MultiVersus will only be available for download until April 4, not on June 25 when the servers actually shut down, so you’ll only have around a week to save a copy of the game onto your device.

Despite receiving quite a bit of buzz when it was first announced, MultiVersus has dropped in both concurrent player count and viewership on livestreaming services such as Twitch. SteamDB lists a peak concurrent player count of over 153,000 following the game’s Steam release, yet less than a thousand players as of two weeks ago.
