New Diablo 4 Crafting Feature Introduces Codex of Power for Easy-Access Legendary Powers

Diablo IV Crafting

A recent Diablo 4 livestream showcased a new crafting feature that’s coming to Diablo 4. The new Diablo 4 crafting feature, known as the Codex of Power, gives players a degree of control over what build they want to run in the game.

Dungeons throughout the world will each have something known as an Aspect, a type of legendary power that you can attain at the bottom of a dungeon. You can imbue these Aspects to your items to grant that item the power you want, with different dungeons rewarding different Aspects.

It’s also worth noting that these Aspects unlock for all your characters within a specific Realm. So if you unlock a legendary power that’s useful for a class you plan on trying out, you won’t have to unlock it a second time.

The Codex of Power doesn’t make item powers obsolete, however. Aspects from the Codex of Power are always rolled at the lowest level, so while you can start a build with a particular Aspect, you will still need to find better versions of those legendary powers through items as you play the game. This keeps the core gameplay loop of grinding for particular items while allowing you to start off a build fairly easily.

Another limitation of the Codex of Power is that it won’t feature all legendary powers in the game. While you will unlock many of them through the Codex of Power, some legendary powers won’t be available through this feature, so you’ll need to grind for those separately.

Diablo 4 is coming this June 6, 2023 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pre-ordering any version of the game will grant you three days of early access, too.
