The big day is finally here, hockey fans! EA has officially announced the next iteration in the long-running NHL franchise, NHL 23. While they’re not quite ready to reveal all the details just yet, we do know which stars will be featured on the cover. And no, you do not read that wrong — this year’s NHL cover athletes will feature two professional players!

NHL 23 Cover Reveal

First up, Sarah Nurse of the Canadian women’s National ice hockey team. Fans should no doubt recognize the name as she has had an impressive hockey career over the last decade, including winning a gold medal for her team at this year’s Winter Olympics. That’s not all, as she also broke a 16-year old record for most points scored during an Olympics tournament. Impressive! So it should come as no shock that EA is honoring her, by not only featuring her on the cover of NHL, but by having her be the first women athlete to ever be on it. Huge congrats!

Next up is Trevor Zegras of the Anaheim Ducks. He’s one of the fastest rising stars in the NHL, and becomes the youngest (21 years of age) cover star for an EA Sport title. Of course, you all probably know him for his famous “Zegras flip pass,” a maneuver that has scored him on many highlight reels, and has EA’s NHL players all over the world trying to perform in game.
