Ratatan, Spiritual Successor to Patapon, Sets Its Musical Stage for 2025
Do you all remember Patapon, the musical rhythm-based 2D platform that saw you control an army of Patapons by playing to the beat of music? Well, it’s back, sort of at least, as the producer behind the series, Hiroyuki Kotani, has teamed up with Tokyo Virtual Theory for what is being called a spiritual successor, Ratatan.
While it has no firm release date, a new trailer has been released, with the studio confirming a 2025 target release.
Ratatan Could Be the New Game Made for Patapon Fans
Yeah, that brings back a lot of memories, and by the looks of things, Ratatan is going to be the game that every Patapon fan has been wanting ever since the release of Patapon 3.

Ratatan is a rhythm roguelike action game that combines rhythm games and side-scrolling action, with online co-op gameplay supporting up to 4 players. An intense battle unfolds with over 100 characters fighting in a massive melee. Defeat the enemies by riding the rhythm of Ratatan’s catchy, toe-tapping soundtrack in this delightful, heartfelt adventure!

Feel the beat and use rhythm sequences in time to order your Cobuns in the direction you want them to go. Since the Ratatans can be moved freely, your judgement to decide where to give orders, where to position the ratatan, and when to retreat is critical.
Ratatan is currently targeting a 2025 release and will be available on all major gaming platforms.
