Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Ray Trace Reflections Are Beyond This Dimension

Just by looking at it, you can tell that Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is one amazing looking game, offering near Pixar quality visuals. Honestly it’s like no other game before it, but that certainly shouldn’t come as a surprise considering Insomniac Games have always been pushing what they could do. And with the power of the PS5 fully being taken advantage of, Insomniac Games have created a technical masterpiece, especially when it comes to ray tracing. We’ve seen our fair share of titles taking advantage of it, but Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart has truly highlighted the feature, making this one of the best games to make use of it. Here are some screenshots showing off the incredible ray trace reflections in Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart.

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart Ray Tracing Image 4 — Even small objects have RT. This was from a tiny door window.

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart Ray Tracing Image 2 — There’s pixilation because this is from the lens a telescope, perhaps the smallest object in the game with a clear enough reflection.

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart Ray Tracing Image 18 — Small metals reflect objects near surrounding. You can see green bouncing off the gold colored metal. On the character themselves that have shiny bits there are reflections that correlate with the coloring of objects near by.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Update 1.004.001 — The only objects that don’t get reflected are effects such as gun firing and explosion. If you look at the window you can see a orange strip being shot of the gun.

There’s plenty of more to experience in the game itself, and while there are three different visual modes, it hard to play this in anything but the ray tracing ones. I suggest new players to play Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart in performance ray tracing as the mode rocks a solid 60FPS, all while for the most part maintaining all that ray tracing goodness.
