While the original game is still intact in this new version, Vengeance also brings several major changes and upgrades to the experience. Here are just a few of them:

  • Canon of Vengeance – Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance will now feature two story paths: Canon of Creation, the original story experience from the game’s initial release, and Canon of Vengeance, an entirely new story created just for this version. The Canon of Vengeance storyline will tell a riveting story of revenge full of intensity.
  • New Nahobino Form – The protagonist’s Nahobino form, the being he transforms into when fusing with a benevolent god-like entity, gets a new look for this installment. Visible in the trailer, this new form is sleek and ninja-like, wielding two energy blades for swift attacks in combat.
  • Dozens o’ Demons – Joining the original list of demons from the original are over 270 new demons, some of which have even been drawn by series character designer Masayuki Doi. Some demons from older titles will even make an appearance!
  • Shinjuku Ward – The Canon of Vengeance brings an entirely new area to explore to the game in the form of the Shinjuku ward. Exploration of the Netherworld and Da’at has also been overall improved, with new Magatsuhi Crystals that will provide recovery for HP and MP and Magatsu rails that can provide shortcuts and access to hidden locations.

Whether you enjoyed the original release of Shin Megami Tensei V or are looking to hop into the game for the first time, it looks like Vengeance will be an excellent experience. With plenty of compelling new content to chew on, we’re sure players will enjoy the ride as they revisit the latest entry in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.

Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance launches for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 14.
