system shock remake release date

The System Shock remake’s PC release date has been pushed from March 2023 to May 30, with the developers describing the previous release window as simply “beyond [their] reach.” The game’s console editions will be released “in due course,” with a console release date announcement promised “at a later date.”

Having been in development since 2015, Nightdive Studios‘ System Shock remake has suffered a series of delays over the years owing to the studio’s commitments with several other remakes and abandonware resurrections. The most recent release window for the remake was set as March 2023, but the studio has now delayed the PC release of the game further to May 30. The PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One versions do not yet have a release date; the studio says that these will be released “in due course,” and promises to reveal the exact release date “at a later date.”

While the full game may not yet be available, players can hop into a playable PC demo of the System Shock remake on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, or the Kickstarter beta for those who have been financially supporting the game’s development. Pre-ordering the game for $39.99 on any PC game store will also grant buyers Nightdive Studios’ upcoming System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition title for free whenever it releases.
