Extended gameplay footage of upcoming horror virtual reality game “The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR” has just been released. The video gives us a closer look at the game with some commentary from Game Director Alejandro Arque Gallardo.

You can watch the 10-minute walkthrough in full below:

In Switchback VR, the player is set on a train that ends up in a terrible accident. The game revolves around lucidity and nightmares, with occasional snaps back into reality before you return to torment by a demon named Belial. Throughout the game, you’ll have access to various weapons, allowing you to fight your way through the nightmare.

We also got another look at the mannequins of this game, which actually make use of the PSVR2’s eye-tracking system to create a unique VR horror experience. Gallardo also reveals another type of mannequin that, while also using the eye tracking feature, does so in a “completely different way.”

Haptic feedback also plays a large part in immersing the player. Small details from walking to the feedback from firing a gun are mapped to provide haptic feedback, with the goal of making the player feel “like they’re there.”

The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR launches on March 16, 2023.
