Battle for Brooklyn DLC Overview

Battle for Brooklyn expands the Division franchise with a gripping new story. Weather you’re a veteran eager to dive deeper into the narrative or completely new to the franchise, the DLC has something for everyone.

You can play the new DLC solo or in co-op.

Story Campaign

Sometimes you need to go back to where you started to see how far you’ve come.

A lot has happened in Brooklyn since we’ve visited the area in the prolog of The Division 1. People have escaped the chaos on Manhattan, moved over to Brooklyn and are trying to build a new life there.

Returning to Brooklyn in the fall helps the game to show the passage of time and how the player and the involved characters have changed as we approach the one-year anniversary of the Directive 51 activation.

Brooklyn has been relatively peaceful, with civilians working together and thriving while the Dark Zone and hostile factions ravage Manhattan. However, the fate of Brooklyn is now at risk.

The Cleaners have launched an attack on the Brooklyn area and are bringing death and destruction with them. Equipped with their new weapon, they are even more dangerous and it is up to you to find out how they produce that new weapon, where they are producing it and how they got the supplies to do that.

New Season – Autumn / Fall

For the first time, players can explore post-pandemic New York in the fall, navigating the iconic Brooklyn neighborhoods.

To bring Autumn to The Division 2 they’ve had to develop a completely new set of technologies that was specifically added to the new Brooklyn map. So you will only experience fall in the new area, not the other areas of The Division 2.

With that you will be able to explore the familiar area, but it also allows them to show the passage of time and what has changed since you were there the last time.

Bridge Settlement

The Bridge Settlement is the heart of Brooklyn and you are tasked with protecting the people who built the settlement and of course the resources there.

The settlement evolves throughout the campaign in multiple stages to showcase how the community comes together to build their new home.

Important Characters

As you venture in then new area, you are going to meet some well-known faces and some new ones:

Theo Parnell

Theo “Glasses” Parnell has been one of the core members of Aaron Keener Team of Rogue Agents and was a key figure in integrating ANNA into their overall plans.

Dr. Jessica Kandel

The well-known virologist Jessica Kandel has been on the front lines since the outbreak of the Green Poison and was a key-figure to develop the first prototypes of the vaccine against the deadly virus. A lot of time has passed since the early days of the outbreak and not only her ID badge has seen better days.

Agent Melanie Hoskins

Melanie Hoskins is a first-wave agent that has joined Aaron Keeners team and has since become a key-figure in his operation.

Open World Map

Battle for Brooklyn is set in the faithfully recreated Brooklyn neighborhoods of Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo. That includes some familiar areas that the Division 1 players know as the Tutorial area from the first game, as well as new areas never explored in the franchise.

=> Hurricane Protection

Brooklyn was hit by the hurricane alongside Manhattan. But while Manhattan was hit by the full force of the storm, the people of Brooklyn have come together to protect the shoreline and that prevented a lot of the damage.

=> Gardens

Once the storm was over, the people of Brooklyn started to clean-up and rebuild their homes by using what they had available. To cover the basic necessities – like food and water – they, for example, started using rooftops as gardens.

Activities

This only applies to the new Brooklyn area:

  • 3 Main Missions
    • Take place offsite to allow greater freedom in terms of mission design.
  • 4 World Missions
    • The so far not replayable side-missions have been replaced with new replayable “World Missions” that you can access from the open world.
  • 4 Control Points
    • The Control Points in Brooklyn change their behavior depending on what faction occupies the control points.
    • The Cleaners will be using the Purple Flame to defend their Control Points, the Rikers have their own tools.
    • The Control Points now not only scale in level, they also have more and more of these additional challenges to overcome.
  • 12 Open World Activities
  • 10 Bounty Locations
  • 8 Hunter Riddles
  • New Collectible Bounties Set
  • Story Collectibles

Hunter Puzzles

There are eight new hunter Puzzles in the Brooklyn area and they’ve specifically designed the new hunters to match their masks to get a new and special look.

The Cleaners

In Battle for Brooklyn, you will be facing an enemy, that you are already familiar with: The Cleaners have launched an assault on the Brooklyn area and they are now even more dangerous:

Purple Flame

=> Image

You first encountered the Purple Flame in the Paradise Lost Incursion. Since then the Cleaners have found a way to mass-produce that weapon and with that they are now bringing destruction to Brooklyn.

Corrosion Effect

=> Image

The key factor of the new Purple Flame weapon is, that it not only applies burn damage to your agent, it also applies a Corrosion Effect.

Once you are exposed to the Purple Flame the corrosion will reduce your maximum amount of armor. The longer you engage in a fight against the Cleaners and are being exposed to the Purple Flame, the lower your armor gets. While you can repair your armor with Armor Kits, you will only be able to repair it to the new maximum amount.

New Skill: Smart Cover

Smart Cover returns in Battle for Brooklyn as a re-imagined skill for PvE and PvP.

Using the Smart Cover will reinforce your cover and grant offensive and defensive buffs.

Players can choose between to Skill Variants: the Precision Smart Cover and the Fortified Smart Cover

=> Fortified Smart Cover

Both variants have stats that will adapt for PvP.

New Exotic: The Catalyst

The new Exotic The Catalyst has been specifically designed to deal with cleaners and work around dealing and receiving elemental damage.

Those who don’t want to pony up the dough for the new content, you’ll still be getting new. Massive has also revealed the Year 7 roadmap, which confirms new seasonal content is on the way and more.

The Division 2 Year 7 Overview

Year 6 has been a year of transformation with a merged endgame, an overhaul of the Seasonal Content model and the introduction of new challenges with the Seasonal Modifiers.

Year 7 continues that journey:

Updated Onboarding

With the constant influx of new players, improving and streamlining the onboarding process for new agents is more important than ever.

More Depth to the Endgame

Year 7 will solidify the Seasons as a corner stone of the Division 2 experience. Their ambition is to introduce more regular updates and fresh experiences.

They are also focused on adding more depth to the endgame, ensuring there is always something exciting to look forward to.

Open World as Part of the Endgame

During Year 7 they want to make the open world a more dynamic part of the endgame. For example, they are working on introducing an entirely new “wrapper” to open world activities, that reacts to your actions while unlocking exotic blueprints farming. To help you to complete your arsenal.

Economy / Tinkering / Customization

They are also focusing on the economy. More specifically they have a package of revamps that will add more depth to the endgame progression, giving you more control of your tinkering and item customization.

Holistic Season Experience

They aim to make Year 7 seasons a truly holistic experience by realigning the modifiers, gear and gameplay with the narrative elements of the seasons. Including the Manhunt and the Climax Mission.

Seasonal Events

In Year 7 you can look forward to a variety of in-game events, including XP multipliers as well as seasonal projects.

New Features

They are also going to add new features such as “weapon stats” and “resource boosts”, but no further details were given.

Whether you’re getting the DLC or not, expect a download on May 27. Chances are this is the last content drop for The Division 2 before we hear more about the third chapter in the franchise, which Ubisoft has confirmed is in development.
