The Division 3 Boss Leaves Ubisoft to Join Battlefield Studios

With the tragic death of Respawn Entertainment CEO and head of the Battlefield franchise Vince Zampella, in December 2025, Publisher Electronic Arts is shoring up Battlefield Studios with another games industry veteran from Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment.

Julian Gerighty, Executive Producer on the Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise, is departing Massive to join Battlefield Studios.

This is just after Gerighty commented that the in-development The Division 3 will be a “monster.”

Ubisoft Dev Departs The Division 3 for Battlefield

Massive Entertainment made the following announcement: “Today, we want to share that Julian Gerighty, Executive Producer on the Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise, is heading off to a new adventure at Battlefield Studios. While we’ll miss him, his mark will live on at Massive and we’ll continue to bring the world he’s been part of creating to our players for years to come.”

The official X (formerly Twitter) account added, “Julian, your legacy is part of this studio and remember: once an Agent, always an Agent.” The studio also acknowledged The Division’s player base who might be worried at this recent development, stating, “For our players, don’t worry, Agents. Our teams who built this world with Julian are still here, carrying it forward with an ambitious, unchanged commitment for the future with The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence and The Division 3.”

Gerighty also made his own announcement, stating, Agents! Quick update from the Base Of Operations: It’s time for me to hang up my go bag (keeping the watch) as I go on another grand adventure. The Division future burns bright, and I can’t wait for you to discover what the teams have been working on,” and ended by saying, “Long live The Division and Godspeed!”

Aside from The Division 3, Gerighty also served as the Creative Director for Star Wars Outlaws, and have also worked on The Division 2 and the first game in the franchise. He also worked on the Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell franchises.

Jumping ship from Ubisoft to EA, it’s unknown for now what role Gerighty will serve. Whether he’ll be helping out with Battlefield 6 or on the franchise’s next entry remains to be seen, but we’re hoping more info about his duties come to light soon. Speaking of Battlefield 6, the game’s second season has been delayed to February 17, with players getting a new update next week to usher in fixes and other improvements in the meantime.

We here at MP1st wish Gerighty nothing but the best!
