Another major reveal that took place at the Nacon Connect this year was The Lord of the Rings: Gollum gameplay reveal! While we’ve looked at bits and pieces of the game before, but this is the first time Daedalic Entertainment has shown us proper gameplay for the game.

Gollum is said to be the most misread creature in the Middle-earth universe. He’s cursed with multiple personalities and is always on the hunt to find his Preciousss. Lord of the Rings: Gollum will take players on a memorable journey, sharing a maligned and unique perspective of Gollum. You will have to swim through rivers, creep through grasses, and move in the shadows to escape enemies during your adventure. As Gollum, you will explore places like Mordor, the Mines of Moria, and Mirkwood Forest. There will be a wide variety of environments in a narrative-rich experience.

Here’s a further overview of Gollum’s adventure published by Nacon.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is based on the legendary The Lord of the Rings trilogy of books by J.R.R. Tolkien, and tells of Gollum’s experiences from behind-the-scenes in the first chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring. After losing his precious ring to Bilbo Baggins, Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey across Middle-earth, where he encounters well-known characters from the books as well as new potential allies and antagonists. It’s up to the players if they want Gollum to have the upper hand when making important decisions, or allow his Hobbit-self, Sméagol, to take over. To survive the dangers he encounters during his adventures, Gollum must use all of his cunning to distract and sneak past enemies while climbing and platforming across the vertically-designed environments.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum launches for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on September 1, 2022. A Nintendo Switch version of the game is planned for later this year.
