The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Versions Delayed “Until Further Notice”

the witcher 3 next-gen versions

CD Projekt RED has delayed The Witcher 3 next-gen versions “until further notice,” with the developer announcing that they have since moved their in-house development team to complete the project. This means that the Q2 window previously announced is now irrelevant, and you can check out the full announcement below.

We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. 1/2

We’ll update you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding. 2/2

There you have it. By the looks of the announcement, it seems like there is still a ton of work that needs to be done, and it’s still a relatively good thing that CD Projekt RED did leave the game’s release as “until further notice.” This means that players should not be expecting it to come out this year, and hopefully the studio manages to work out the kinks by the time it comes to launch.

In case you missed it, the studio also announced that they are moving to Unreal Engine 5 for the next Witcher title, and you can read more about it here.
