wwe 2k23 shutdown

Released in March 14, 2023 on the PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, Visual Concepts’ WWE 2K23 is already set to offline in about three months’ time, which means the game’s online component would have been available in less than two two years.

The announcement comes from 2K’s Support page where it mentions the wrestling title’s server sunset date is set for January 6, 2025.

WWE 2K23 is getting its final takedown. As of January 6, 2025 the servers will be discontinued.

This includes all online functions, such as online matches and Community Creations. You will no longer be able to access any online game mode after this point, however if you already own the game you will be able to continue to play offline modes.

The game itself and all VC (Virtual Currency), as well as DLC/Add-Ons, will no longer be available for purchase starting November 1, 2024.

Of course, you can still play offline, though for those who haven’t bought WWE 2K24 and still play online, well, you’re out of luck. While I do understand that yearly sports titles quickly lose steam after its latest entry is released, the game does have a Create-a-Wrestler feature, which means you have an endless supply of new characters to choose from. That feature, too, will be unavailable come January 2025, so perhaps it’s time you played that game a bit before its servers are gone forever.

While we’re transitioning to an online-centric gaming world, I sure hope that publishers do consider that not everyone upgrades to the latest version of a sports game, and perhaps leave a server or two available for some of the people still interested in playing.

As for WWE 2K24, it’s currently one of the free games in the PlayStation Plus monthly games lineup, and there’s another DLC pack set for release this November per the game’s roadmap.
