XDefiant Falls Out of Top 40 Most Played on PlayStation and Xbox for the First Time Since Launch

XDefiant update 1.000.026

While we’re still a few weeks away from the start of XDefiant Season 2, Ubisoft San Francisco might want to cook up an in-game event or something, as for the first time since the game’s release in May, the free-to-play shooter has dropped from both the PlayStation and Xbox platforms’ top 40 most played games.

The data comes from TrueAchievements and TrueTrophies recent top 40 charts. Lording it over on the PlayStation front is Fortnite, with EA Sports FC 24 at the second spot, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Grand Theft Auto V and Roblox rounding out the top five. On Xbox, it’s the same five games included in the top five, with the placements in different order

This is a huge drop from XDefiant that saw over 11 million players log into the shooter in its first month of release, with Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot even stating that ut has “exceeded expectations.”

There is still the Rockafeller map set to roll out in Season 2, and once that’s over, Season 2 shouldn’t be far behind. Aside from the much-needed new content, the game is suffering from progression drought, as aside from gun camos, there is literally zero stuff to earn; no calling cards, no player emblems, no nothing unless you’ve paid for the Battle Pass.

The good news? Executive Producer Mark Rubin has confirmed that more devs are being added to the game, which should help not only squash the bugs, but hopefully, shore up the content as well. As for Season 2, a recent datamine has unearthed the faction and even weapons incoming for the shooter.

If you’ve yet to give XDefiant a try, go read our review to see if it’s worth allocating the disk space for.
