XDefiant Season 1 Off to a Rocky Start, as New Patch Brings Frame Rate Drops, Abilities Not Working and More Issues

XDefiant Season 1 issues

Earlier today, Ubisoft San Francisco has released the Season 1 patch for XDefiant that not only brings in a new faction, but new maps, weapons, and even gameplay changes too. However, it also dragged in quite a number of issues! From the game client crashing, frame rate drops, to even locking your faction ability unusable in the match.

I’ve logged in today to check out Season 1, but after a few matches, it’s pretty evident that another patch is needed to sort out the various bugs that have surfaced. Multiple reports about the game’s performance issues taking a massive dip after the patch has surfaced on the game’s subreddit, and is something I have witnessed first-hand. It happens on both the old and new maps, and severely affects gameplay. From my experience, seeing multiple enemies at once chugs the frame rate down for some reason.

Not only that, but players have reported on crashing issues as well:

If the frame rate/performance issues and crashes aren’t bad enough, it seems faction abilities malfunction in matches. I’ve personally experienced this wherein a faction ability will be “greyed out” and can’t be used, and the only solution is to change factions when you die, and then switch back again once you die again. Of course, this means you lose a ton of ultra meter in the process and this seems to affect a lot — if not all — faction abilities.

Whats up with the abilities right now?

Not only that, but there’s even issues with career stats as well. Based on my experience, Skill Rating, Score per Minute (SPM) and more aren’t being tracked, which is something other players have noticed as well.

At the time of this writing, Ubisoft has not acknowledged any of the issues, though we’re hoping that changes soon. Chances are, another patch is needed to fix some of these issues, and if you’re one of the many affected, take comfort in the fact that it’s not just you. Not that it helps you resolve the problems, but at least, you can eliminate that it’s your rig or console that’s the problem, right?

Once we know more about what’s happening, we’ll be sure to provide our readers an update on the latest developments.
