Team Ninja has begun rolling out Ninja Gaiden 2 Black update 1.002 across all platforms. This update appears to add some new options to the Game Pass Windows version of the game, though what it does for other platforms is yet to be confirmed.

Here’s everything we know included in today’s Ninja Gaiden 2 Black update.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update 1.002 Adds More Upscaling Option on the Game Pass Windows PC Version

Size:

  • 353 MB on PS5
  • 500 MB on PC (Steam)
  • 1.8 GB on PC (Game Pass/Windows)

Update: Official patch notes are live!

  • Fixed an issue where the options for DLSS and XeSS would not appear when selecting super resolution type on the Microsoft Store version of the game.
  • Fixed an issue that in rare cases made it impossible to progress after defeating certain bosses.

Original Story:

Since the update is being pushed to every platform (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC), we don’t know much about it beyond what we’ve spotted, as Team Ninja has not published any official patch notes. However, we do know that the PC Game Pass Windows version of the game now supports DLSS and XeSS upscalers, along with Nvidia Reflex, all of which were missing in the original release of this version.

Considering the download sizes on the other platforms, we expect this update is likely related to bug fixes. As for which bugs, well, that’s anyone’s guess, though based on some of our testing and feedback from the community, we know the following issues have not been fixed or improved:

  • Controller vibration bug where it does not vibrate when ray-tracing is enabled on PC.
  • 120 FPS stutters – Still present, doesn’t appear to have been improved.
  • No noticeable image quality improvements were made to the 120 FPS mode on consoles.
  • Input lag – More testing is needed with it; it may be improved, though we aren’t noticing a massive difference on the Steam version of the game.
  • There’s still no option to turn HDR off without manually going into the console settings.
  • HDR coloring still appears broken.

That’s all we know so far. We’ll update the information above if Team Ninja releases any official patch notes. Otherwise, we’ll continue to monitor for any other changes added or bugs fixed.
