Anshar Studios has released the first Painkiller hotfix on consoles and PC, and this brings leaderboards to the shooter, as well as improvements to the game’s controls and more.

Console gamers will see this as Painkiller update 1.005 (complete version 1.005.000), and this also brings a bunch of bug fixes, with the complete details available below.

New Features

Leaderboards

Track your path through Purgatory. Each location now has its own leaderboard, ranked by the score earned during a raid.

  • Accessible directly from the Lobby.
  • Leaderboards are platform-specific.

Improvements

Controls:

  • The communication wheel mouse navigation has been reduced to improve feel.

Dialogue:

  • Reduced the frequency of in-mission voice lines.
  • Dialogue timing adjusted to occur less often during combat.
  • Certain voice-over variants now have a much lower chance to play.

Display Options:

  • Added a setting to switch the active display monitor.

Lobby Enhancements:

  • Added sound effects for reward windows.

Tarot Cards:

  • “Hunter’s Due” and “Hellborn’s Gift” descriptions now properly reflect their in-game functionality.

UI Improvements:

  • Added more accurate error messages when experiencing issues joining raids.

Resolved Issues

Achievements

  • Fixed an issue where the “Shred on Arrival” achievement would not progress correctly.

Crashes:

  • Fixed several of the most common crashes.

Gameplay Fixes

  • Fixed incorrect enemy spawns, missing enviro collisions, and movement bugs
  • Fixed an issue where Orion of the Bloodswarm’s (first boss) collider would not despawn properly.
  • Fixed an issue where Blood Tanks had incorrect collision.
  • Fixed an issue where Static Blood Tanks could have incorrect inactive tank markers.
  • Fixed an issue where Soul Cages could behave incorrectly when being held during fast player movement.
  • Fixed an issue where bots could spawn outside the arena on Winding Canyons.
  • Fixed an issue with bot possession after player death in Rogue Angel mode. 

Localization

  • Fixed missing French localizations of tutorial elements in the Prologue.

Offline Mode

  • Fixed an issue where Ancient Soul rewards could be counted incorrectly upon successful completion of a raid.

UI Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the Sharpness option was missing a description.
  • Fixed an issue with player markers displaying incorrectly.
  • Fixed an issue where the Raid Summary screen incorrectly displayed character visuals.

User Experience

  • Fixed an issue where quickly pressing the middle mouse button during the tagging tutorial could block the alt-shot input.

Voice Chat

  • Fixed an issue where communication settings would not save unless the game was restarted.

Visuals & Effects

  • Fixed an issue where the Electrodriver’s alt-fire electricity effect was missing in the Prologue.
  • Fixed an issue where unintended world effects and visual interference could appear on the Character and Weapon selection screens.
  • Fixed an issue where the pressure plate platform in Canyons would visually twitch or glitch.

We’re not expecting a lot of patches for the game, but if the developers release one, expect it here on MP1st.
