Black Ops 2 Promotion Poster Reveals “Revolution” Map Pack and Weapon DLC

According to a recently spotted Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 promotional poster, “Revolution,” first piece of downloadable content making it’s way to Black Ops, will include four new multiplayer maps, one new zombie map, and one new weapon.

According to the images posted on the Call of Duty forums (later removed), this map pack will see a release date of January 29th, coming to the Xbox 360 first (most likely one month later to the PS3 and PC), and will include the following maps and weapon:

MP – Hyrdo
MP – Downhill
MP – Grind
MP – Mirage
Zombie – Die Rise
Weapon – Peacekeeper SMG

Season Pass holders will, of course, have access Black Ops 2′s first DLC at no additional cost while others will most likely be able to download the pack for a $15 USD price tag or 1200 MS Points, as usual.

If these images below are indeed real, this would mark a first for the Call of Duty series to include additional weaponry through DLC, a highly requested item for last year’s Modern Warfare 3 DLC. Interestingly, Infinity Ward Executive Producer Mark Rubin explained earlier why Modern Warfare 3 didn’t do weapon DLC, relating the issue to RAM. You can read more about it here. Perhaps, Treyarch found away around the issue?

  they havent even really acknowledged its existence so dont get your hopes up, i will be getting this for zombies though, Die Rise sounds interesting… lucky they have zombies actually, cos like in mw3, i woudnt have bought the dlc cos im sick of the lag comp and ‘he should’ve died’ moments in CoD multiplayer these days.

  I’m not going to fork out for a season pass at this stage, especially since Vahn seems to be pulling a JD2020 on us, my trust in Treyarch is decreasing by the day at this stage. And as mikey-p says, they haven’t acknowledged the existence of such issues. If they can get their S*** straight a summit remake would be the tits!

      Yeah, I don’t get it either. They must be aware, it was the same with BLOPS 1 (though nowhere near the severity of what we’re faced with now) absolutely no recognition of netcode/lag comp issues while they quietly worked on it in back rooms, meanwhile JD2020 was ignoring the outcry of the community and tweeting stupid crap about how much he loves zombies. It was about six months before they had BLOPS 1 somewhat consistent, I am really hoping the same principles can be applied to fixing BLOPS II, but with much more urgency and speed.

  Not really, in BO2 SMGs dominate the game so putting a Sniper,Ars,and LMG into this pack and rarely no one will use those. Most players will use the SMGs

Hopefully they make Black Ops 1 style maps. The last two CODs have had very peculiar map design, with an infinte number of lines of sight and headglitches and numerous obstacles obstructing views and providing more ways to be shot (look at Carrier). They need to make simple, open, linear, flat, symmetrical, LARGER maps for good, balanced gameplay. Keep a few simple buildings with large openings. Look at Firing Range, Summit, Grid, WMD, all played so well for most any game mode since they were so well designed.
I think they’re getting to meticulous with it now; they’re too afraid to do anything because of the ‘camper’ epidemic. They think, “What if someone camps here?”, and than say “Let’s put 3 counters here.” which is just soliving one problem with 3 more issues. This is the reason I quit MW3, very poor map design. What warrants a bad map is one where you constantly get shot in the back, and this was MW3 to a tee for me (add on low health and I could never turn on anyone). I also want ONE-ON-ONE gunfights, not one-on-two or one-on-one than another right around the corner which is Black Ops 2 to a tee for me.
Honestly this one thing is the only thing crucial to COD future success. Black Ops 1 is my favourite COD, but I admit it lags like a bitch, has spotty hit detection, and terrible frame rate issues. But it was OK since the map design was so fair, that lag didn’t play a part in gunfights that often, and with larger maps spawns were absolutely awesome (occasional Ground War mishaps, but that’s understandable). That is why people hate the newer CODs, SMGs dominate, meaning you die faster, meaning lag is a more significant factor, meaning more campers and shotgunners and snipers (which are detrimental to game flow). Assault Rifles NEED to be the dominant gun, that’s why COD 4 and Black Ops feel so balanced. Assault Rifles have average stats across the board; not too strong in any area, but not too weak in any area. This means that by using a different gun you gain certain advantages and disadvantages (like an SMG from close range as opposed to long range).
By extension this means fairer gunplay, and that only a skilled player, the way it should be, can utilize SMGs and shotguns, because they require knowledgeable manueverability, as with shotguns and snipers, which are SUPPOSED to be gimmick and flavour weapons, not go-to try-hard classes. Sorry for the rambling, but I honestly think this is the detriment of COD (along with fast time-to-kill) and I wanted to get it out there.

  COD has tons of problems. If I may suggest try jumping on BF3 if you havent already. It does a lot of things call of duty should (or will do in the future since the franchise wont die). BF3 has great level design, balanced guns (except for a few), and you get to be the killstreak. For as long as you want to remain the killstreak. Sure 4-man squads sound very limited but when you realize your squad is kicking ass up and downthe battlefield you will feel like a badass. That is, if you aren’t already on the battlefield.

        Yes it was nerfed but it didn’t make any differences at all,I can still slap a laser on a shotgun or SMGs and just hipfire across the map still killing someone. CoD is an easy FPS that anyone with can play without having too much skills which may be fine to some people but to me it’s obviously not an enjoyable experience,that and Lag Compensation

    Oh I have BF3. Got it the day after release. I was blown away. The TDM alone was exactly what I was looking for. It was like COD without the vast levels of bullshit; large skill gap so the better player wins gunfights (which was always me) and I drooled over the map design. It felt sooooo fair compared to MW3, everything seemed to work, the destruction, the lines of sight, the mechanics, the attachments, the guns, the gadgets and equipment, how all parts of the map were useful, how it was so easy to spot someone (COD lacks contrast between soldier and map), the pistols, everything. The only thing I hated was the shotguns; I thought they shot way too far (I once got one-shotted by a shotgun on Tehran Highway, guy was at the top of the steps and I was on the other side of the highway!) The thing is, I like to rush A LOT in that game since I always get one-on-one gunfights without obtrusive junk in the way (COD has too many obstacles that ruin the maps). And herin lied a problem; I felt forced into constantly using the Medic class. I’d run up to an enemy, kill him, but I’d be at 50% health. I hated having to stop and regroup so I’d just throw a med down and keep going. I was good at the game, don’t get me wrong, I could hold a very high SPM (although that was due to me spamming meds and rambo reviving) and a high KD and WL, but I had to use the same class all the time. And the COD player in me wanted fast paced, yet tactical gameplay. Conquest was UNBEARABLY slow, and Rush felt agonizingly difficult with a bad team. At times it felt like the team who had the player who was more adept with the helicopter would win…The vehicle play was fine, although most of the time they felt like a method of transport more than actual weapons. Honestly strategy and destruction felt overhyped; all the talk of suppressive fire and flanking and providing air/ground/vehicle support wasn’t exactly the way I thought it would be when advertised. So, as a fan of fast paced game modes, I was naturally only drawn to TDM (another problem with Conquest was when the other team ‘gave up’ and you could no longer find them or they’d just hide in their base). However I do agree the satisfaction of having your squad wreak havoc on the enemy was quite rewarding. But custom servers kind of ruined the experience and from there on the game hasn’t captured me the same way…I hate TDM on Noshar Canals and that’s all I get; 24/7 500 tickets. And then I’ll try a game of rush that lasts like 40 minutes; not many like that. Also, on a side note, some people have said there isn’t spawn trapping, which is bullshit! Overall I do agree BF3 is much better than the last two CODs by far, but I felt limited in the role I could play and still have FUN (key word). A few other things bothered me, like all of those little glitches (gun reload animations, no sound, wrong gun sound, FREEZES, etc.). It does all of the things COD does wrong correctly; all it really needs to entice me is slightly faster health regen (because most of the time idiotic medics won’t drop anything and I don’t want to rely on other people too much, even if that is what the game is predicated on), and just some fast paced game modes. That’s all they need to take a good chunk of the COD audience away from Activision. Hopefully BF4 fixes all of the minor issues in BF3 and adds exactly what it needs, which is a few more bells and whistles, and hopefully custom games which is one thing that I will continue to by COD for, to overtake COD in people playing. Although I don’t think any game will reach the market penetration of COD. Again, sorry for rambling.

      If you’re taking a full clip to put enemies down you’re either aiming at their legs, using specific weapons at a range that is ineffective for their type or perhaps playing on servers far from your region? And other than playing on large maps when they are unpopulated I’m not sure what’s wrong with the map design on console?

  Most intelligent post I have ever read on a CoD article/forum, asides from saying shotguns, snipers, and camping is detrimental to gameflow. Whatever you want to call it, the above three are a necessary because it keeps people from getting too lax. It forces you to stay aware. You don’t just stupidly run into the wide open to take a shortcut to the enemy; you’ll get sniped. You don’t just sprint into a building and go straight for the stairs, or you’ll get killed by a shotgun. You can’t get rid of camping, because there’s always going to be a doorway or corner. Treyarch tried to get rid of camping, and the result is it’s incredibly hard to play a careful, more structured play style.

    Exactly, camping will always exist in Call of Duty or Battlefield. People will camp regardless of the situation. People on Call of Duty think the way to play the game is to rush out hard will whatever weapon you have. People don’t stop and think and hence why they become average players. Smart players like me know how to play Call of Duty. Play defensively with an assault rifle in small maps and let SMGs and shotguns push.

  I’ve found the solution or how to screw SMGs in two words: “BIG MAPS” the maps in bo2 are small so people are most likely to use the appropiate weapon for the map.

This is the type of shit the devs need to read, a well structured response to an issue with actual proof in addition to ideas to fix the problem.     Yep, just speculating how they’ll put it in this time! Some peoe have said helicopters because there’s a small picture of a chopper in the background, but I think that’s just artwork. Only time (travel) will tell!

This in my opinion is both good and terrible. Here’s why:

Good: You get DLC, what’s wrong with it? You even get a new gun (just one, but at least it’s something)!

Terrible: We’ve found they lied to us, saying they couldn’t add new weapons because of the usage the engine has (no RAM left), and suddenly they add a new weapon. Now we know they can add weapons (yes, they can), but it’s still not sure whether they will or not.

  Treyarch uses a heavily modified version of iw 3.0 in blops 2. IW used iw 5.0 in mw3. Maybe the engine treyarch used was less memory intensive.

      That’s not really an apples with apples comparison. BF3 runs on entirely different and new tech, whereas CoD has essentially been running on the ID Tech 3 engine since it’s inception.

How about some more sniper friendly maps, not all this looks like a sniper friendly map but has butt loads of rush flank routes, you just can’t set up spots long enough with out being rushed up on in this game. There seems to be only 2 maps you can try to work with sniper class on and that is Carrier and Turbine, lame.

about freakin time they do some weapon DLC. I don’t care that it’s only 1 weapon, Battlefield has shown that weapon DLC is completely fine so idk why COD was so worried about it. I just hope its not a carbon-copy clone of another SMG already in the game, simply reskinned -.-

  Yeah that’s what I think they will add a ‘new’ gun every dlc and since BO2 has very little weapons compared to other COD’s I just never thought activision would stoop so low…..

  Honestly, I doubt that. I have diamond SMGs myself and I think by adding a new smg to the game won’t effect the people who have diamond camo. I will say this, if they take off the diamond camo just to get the peacekeeper diamond, I will be pissed but also will discourage people to get the DLC if they really cared about their diamond smgs.
