Infinity Ward Teases Call of Duty: Ghosts Intel Ahead of May 21 Reveal [Updated]

Infinity Ward has just updated the official Call of Duty: Ghosts website with the following two sets of numbers, as you can see below.

The first “message” is a set of coordinates that takes you to Caracas, Venezuela, if enter them on Google maps.

Here are some screen captures from Google maps of the location:

Screen Shot 2013-05-17 at 9.44.33 PM

The second set of numbers is more ambiguous, and we’ll update the article once it’s cracked.

Thanks, @R11R and @RK1Apocalypse

Update 1

The most logical explanation to the set of numbers below comes from MP1st reader TOROi3, who points out that 183.84 is the atomic mass of Tungsten. The chemical element is being used in the arms industry and could also theoretically be used for kinetic orbital strikes with the same destructive force as a tactical nuclear weapon.

Update 2

The official Call of Duty website has updated yet again, this time with a new quote and a poster.

Who can find the MP1st easter egg in the Google maps screens? ;)

    • James K

Don’t tell me it’s the MP1st logo on the top right corner of the screen.

      • http://mp1st.com/ Fahed Jaradat

Yup, it’s the very first and last logo I made myself. Did it on MS Word like a boss. :P

        • James K

          Simplistic yet elegant.

          • Niosus

@FahedJ:disqus @JamesKGB:disqus And then I took his job muhahahaha!

  • James K

Ah jeez….it’s the “find the location from the coordinates” game again.

    • Mike Haggar

Hey at least it’s not a Facebook game at least. Let’s see how many YT videos these pictures spawn. You know what blows about this gen? The whole announcement of an announcement thing.

On July 2, 1984, Moscow rejected a U.S. offer to join in talks on banning weapons in outer space.

      • Just saying

WoW this going too far :D

        • bob mcbob

          i agree.

      • TOROi3

183 84 is also the atomic mass of tungsten which would have been used in an experimental satellite weapon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_bombardment

        • your a prick

we know. and your still a sad fat bald basement troll virgin prick.

          • .

            You’re a prick*

      • Niosus

That is actually also VERY valid. That combined with the orbital strikes TOROi3 mentioned it could be very interesting.

  • TOROi3

183 84 is the atomic mass of tungsten. its used in bullets and other munitions. there was even an idea in the us government to create a satellite that fired giant tungsten rods that would have had the same destructive power as nukes.

    • Delta8A

      bingo!

    • http://mp1st.com/ Fahed Jaradat

Updated the piece with your findings, thank you.

      • DeFFeR

… but you skewed what he said… same destructive power as nukes, not that Tungsten would actually be used in nuclear weapons.

        • TOROi3

here is what i was talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_bombardment

        • Niosus

I updated the post (with his permission of course). It should be correct now. Thanks @toroi3:disqus for the link to Wikipedia. I was wondering what you meant with the nuke part. Tungsten is very inert so it didn’t make sense. Of course I forgot if you drop something from space it does have quite a bit of kinetic energy.

          • TOROi3

            you da man!

I cracked the Code, Call of Duty Ghosts is going to very similar to the past 5 call of duty games.

    • Will Russell

You saying that with current avatar is ironic…

      • Richie Tellez

Atleast that game was fun to play :D no bs involved, no frustration or lousy team that don’t know what they are doing.

    • Jason Davis

      God i hope not…

    • dpg70

I don’t know. Part of me thinks that this is where they actually change it. That or they don’t do anything new until the install base for the new consoles is higher. Tough call.

okey first go to google maps and type 10.480891,-66.903648 after that go up to the search tab again and type 183 84 and you are getting three other close locations

    The coodinates are:
    A. 10.501632,-66.867599
    B. 10.486462,-66.883703
    C. 10.465678,-66.57114

    • Just saying

Could be true. At least more than tungsten but like I said this is taken too far. It’s a game not a war simulator for military use!

      • vzla

Im from Caracas Venezuela and i saw what you wrote and could be true since one is the Country Club where the “Elite” or richest people from Caracas go, the second is “Ciudad Universitaria” the primary public University, and the last is in the “Barrios where most of the violence occurs… even though theres violence all around

  • http://twitter.com/UpRyzer Ryzer

I guess they bringing back a nuke? Great time for more tryhards. Oh and people trying to beat each other over the time.

    • Niosus

It could be, but the Tungsten clue looks really promising. The card looks VERY much like one you’d find on a periodic table and the number is the atomic mass accurate to less than 0.01. I’d be surprised if that ended up being something else…

  • Sieg

for the story it could be logical…cause venezuela isnt that far away….

      Dat logic

    • http://twitter.com/SnazzyPanic david

There’s no proof that nukes will even be in the game yet… although think of how “useful” this weapon can be Nuke forces without the radiation or EMP effects quiet devatating really only issue being once it’s fired no takingthat shit back..

  • Alex

Looks like a potential game disrupting/ending weapon in another IW game, and some Spanish nation being involved (possibly in requiring the Ghosts) with Venezuela and the Spanish wording.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marioporfirio Mario Porfírio Souza

This COD must leave three things to be good. Quickscope, Drop Shot and Nuke.

    • Dirtknap

I agree on the quick scoping and game ending nukes, but you may as well remove the ability to strafe and jump from the game while you’re at it. Drop shotting is just as much a part of tactical movement and evasion. Its already been nerfed to a degree in BLOPS II, sure, maybe even nerf it a little more, but its certainly a valid game mechanic and shouldn’t be removed.

    • DanDustEmOff

Do you mean MOAB, cause they already dropped the Nuke. If so no to all three obviously you cant QS, DS and have never had a MOAB or nuke. If you could I think you would have a different view. I can’t QS but I respect those that can it takes skill.

June 15 is the day the Decree of War to the Death was issued in 1813, which basically allowed Venezuelan citizens to kill the occupying Spaniards. I think that in this next game, Venezuela will be the new “bad guys,” similar to Nicaragua in Black Ops 2. I think that Venezuela will gain access to a “Tungsten satellite,” of which is used against the US, as seen in the destroyed city the teaser takes place in. The US then invades, and Venezuela issues another thing like the Decree of War to the Death…

  • 5warreAA

Perhaps they are Giving away the names of the “Ghosts” because Tungsten is also called “Wolfram” that could be one of the nicknames for them.

Type 183.84 into google and you get IP Addresses, those IP addresses lead you to Beijing. Perhaps China will have a big part in the CoD?…

    • Niosus

there are 65536 IP addresses that end with 183.84, another 65536 that start with it and another 65536 with those numbers in the middle. I doubt it’s a clue. The number 65536 is 2^16 which is the amount of possibilities the other 2 numbers in the IP address can have. 2^8 (256) per number.

For the IP addresses to be a clue they need to at least give us 3 numbers and a clue to what the last one could be. They can’t expect us to scan a little shy of 200k IP addresses on a hunch.

      • You are an idiot.

I don’t think the words ” please shut the hell up” have ever had more significance than they do at this moment.

  • Quantum

The number could also mean the code for supernatural Homosapiens.

    • TOROi3

      umm…what?

  • http://twitter.com/GamePro_iSrael GamePro iSrael

June 15th may refer to “Decreto de Guerra a Muerte“, also known as “Decree of War to the Death”

  • http://twitter.com/MagnEgo Donovan Jeska

Throwing my name in the Tungsten hat. Note the location of the number (bottom left hand corner of a rather obviously square shaped background) and compare it to any entry on most periodic tables. Same shape, same location.

  • MasonMei

About the Dia de la Federación: translated to English, it means “Day of Federation”, as many of you must have noticed. It’s a public holiday in Venezuela but not on Jun 15th, instead, Feb 20th.
Well, not that big a finding, yet the string of numbers revealed yesterday are surely coordinates leading to the place in Venezuela, and, our upcoming title has quite something to do with Venezuela.

Like other have said the last teaser is Translate we get “Federation Day Of June 15th”. It appears that this is referring to the “Decree of War to the Death” which further ties into the country Venezuela, which is where the coordinates for the previous tease took us to.

This decree was formally declared by Simon Bolivar in Trujillo, Venezuelan on June 15, 1813. The decree “permitted murder and any atrocities whatsoever to be omitted against civilians born in Spain (or the Canary Islands), other than those actively assisting South American independence, and furthermore exonerated Latin Americans who had already committed such murders and atrocities,” according to Wikipedia.

There was a rumor 2 years ago that the next IW CoD would be a prequel about Ghost that would revisit previous areas such as Brazil. I’m starting to think that’s what CoD Ghosts is, and they’re reusing their Brazil assets and calling it Argentina.

Again new update -61.905339 and -60.074158 if you search on google maps 10.480891 -61.905339 you come at the sea around Venezuela same for the 10.480891 -60.074158 and it would fit with the with the paper you see with the coastlne on it.

  • GH0ST-INF0

The new coordinates: -61.905339, -60.074158 lead to the South Atlantic Ocean and St. Helena Island is a sea-island located in the South Atlantic Ocean.

    *FUN FACT*

João da Nova discovered the island on May 21, 1502. Treyarch is releasing the teaser on May 21, but i doubt this has anything to do with it. Correct me if i’m wrong.
