Battlefield 4 Alpha Trial Starts Tomorrow, PC Spec Requirements Detailed

Those who have been patiently waiting on the alpha testing stages of DICE’s latest FPS, Battlefield 4, to get underway won’t have to wait much longer. Invites to the Battlefield 4 alpha are being sent now, with the full alpha trial going live tomorrow.

According DICE dev ‘TheBikingViking,’ those who didn’t receive an alpha invite yet should not expect one coming their way anytime soon, as there’s only going to be one batch of alpha trial invites going around for BF4. Those who did get accepted, your invitation should be in your inbox now.

Of course, since this is an alpha trial, don’t expect any of the mind-blowing quality visuals that we saw during the E3 2013 event. Most textures outside of soldiers and vehicles would be incomplete, as shown in the leaked alpha photos that surfaced not too long ago.

He also notes that this is a ‘white-box’ alpha trial which is meant to test server related issues to insure that come the official launch of the game, it’ll be smooth as possible, and of course to gather gameplay feedback from those luckily enough to play the trial.

For the alpha trial PC specs requirements, check out the list below:

  • OS: Vista SP2, Win7 (Win8 not supported)
  • 64 bit (32 bit not supported)
  • Dx10 or Dx 11 GPU with 1+GB of RAM, Dx 11 highly recommended
  • 25GB HDD free space required
  • Latest Origin version required

Battlefields 4′s alpha trial is expected to last up to 14 days, meaning the cut-off date for the alpha trial is July 1.

You can get your hands on Battlefield 4 this fall on October 29, for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with next-generation consoles’ release date to be announced in the near future.

  • Arvid

I want to be in the alpha :(

    • James K

I would rather be in the more polished beta..

      • MegaMan3k

I played in the BF3 alpha and the BF3 beta and I found the alpha more enjoyable.

        • Joel Santana

Yeah the Bf3 alpha had some pretty neat stuff like better knife takedown animations and such.

          • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

            Bf3 is your finished BF4.

            • blackmorth

Who is the kid here? you repeated the same 10 times like a small kid

            • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

Your poor vocabulary and rage give you up. Mommy is there, don’t worry ;)

  • Cole.

Any way to get a key? I really want to test it and I got the specs.

    • Joel Santana

No, unless someone is kind enough to give you their alpha key. :(

    • ShavedApe

No there are no keys only email invites, I just got an email and then when I restarted origin it was there in origin.

      • ZILZAL

Share your account with me , let me try it ;)

        • ShavedApe

Wouldnt you know it I forgot my password lucky I told Origin to always remember or I would be screwed ;)

    • Joshua

The game is added to the Origin account library if you have a friend who got the email ask him if you can play on his account sometime.
      Vanu FTW (again)

  • ramirez19pl

mp1st please say you have one key ^^

  • Cillian Greene

Sorry guys, unless you have bought MOH and pre ordered BF4, and bought Premium 3 times, you don’t get in

    • ZILZAL

i did bough MOHW LE preorder , BF3 Premium , BF4 DDE , and another Pre-orderCode from amazon , but i got nothing instead for alpha

      • chicksoup

because alpha was only available to select players

  • famoussasjohn

Found this on another website, here’s the full email. No keys are sent, it’s all pre-loaded onto Origin for the people selected, so you can’t even share the key to someone if you wanted to.

  • MegaMan3k

For what it’s worth, there are some “leaks” that are indicating an October 29th release date for the Ps4. So it could be day and date with all the other releases, which would be incredible.

… There are also some leaks indicating a November 26th release date. But I selectively ignore those.

Anyway, if it’s anything like the Battlefield 3 “Alpha,” it’ll be better than the final game in some areas. Oh yeah. I went there.

  • AtheistMason

    So early? Awesome.

  • Manny Maciel

Does this mean more BF4 gameplay on youtube?

    • Joel Santana

No. Not at least alpha testing for that matter, since there’s an embargo on all information/videos taken from the alpha.

      • potatolol

Dont worry,it will be all over the youtube.:)

        • Joel Santana

Lol for a minutes til someone reports it. :(

  • AtheistMason

    I don’t think there’s a 31st in June. @Joel Santana

    • http://www.mp1st.com/ Michael Altwine

I let him know bro, thanks for letting us know. :)

      • AtheistMason

        Thanks :D

  • Blaine Reinsma

The Alpha is being played on the Siege of Shanghai map, which obviously had all of the textures filled in at E3, so why would all the textures by blank white on the same map in the Alpha?

Anyway, reading around, apparently Alpha selection is completely random. Basically they scanned over every single origin account that had BF3 and then chose people by random. Too bad they are only doing one batch… they should really do at least two batches.

    • runey5

      stress testing….

  • eBunny

Damnit :( even though I have no chance of being invited at all, I can’t even check because my hotmail account, to which my battlelog is linked, doesn’t work anymore…because apparently someone got on my account or something.
The only way to get back on it is to fill in a form about my information, but that doesn’t seem to be working…

  • Paul

a bit offtopic i guess, but if you are excited for the destruction in bf4, i have bad news for you.
it’s pretty much the same as in bf3. no bad company-style destruction.

    http://www.vg247.com/2013/06/17/battlefield-4-bringing-back-the-destruction-sort-of/

    • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.r.amanna Samuel Roshan Amanna

You should watch the interview with Patrick Bach in the E3 BF4 gameplay booth. He clearly mentioned that destruction is much much better than BF3, but that doesnt ,mean you go around bringing down buildings. Areas around the objectives will be highly destructible allowing players to create alternate paths, strategy and gameplay.

      • Paul

        lets hope so.

  • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.r.amanna Samuel Roshan Amanna

I got Invited!!! But there is one MAJOR CONCERN!! :’(
    I got Widows 7 32Bit :’(

I dont want to reinstall the whole OS and millions of software for a 2 week game..

But again its BF4!.. So confused

    PLS Advise

    • Kyle Jackson

Why have you not got 64 bit installed anyways?. And yes, you should format for the Alpha, I got my invite, so I’ll see you on there.

      • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.r.amanna Samuel Roshan Amanna

Well I cant express how excited I am.. but at the same time.. Thats shit load of rework :(
I cant imagine reinstalling every single Application again for a 2 weeks of testing.
Got to think of an alternative

        • Tyler Dominick

More or less think of better performance out of your PC.. if you have more then 3 gig’s of ram + a graphics card you should be on 64-bit without question. Even if you dont have more then 3 gig’s of ram still worthy as you will use all your ram, + gpu, without a limit by the OS.

          • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.r.amanna Samuel Roshan Amanna

Reinstalled the OS to 64bit.. The game is great.. lot of crashing to desktop… game stopping bug :(

Also not much performance gain with 64 bit.. anyways thanks for all ur suggestions :)
Hopefully soon we can share some info on our experience.

    • born2expire

plug in a 2nd hard drive and install win7 64 and BF4, problem solved.

      • SamRock

        Doing exactly that :)
        Thanks

  • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

You already own bf4 full version, it is called BF3.

    • Asmitty56

You mean Battlefield 2. Arguably the best Battlefield. Battlefield 3 doesn’t have nearly the features Battlefield 3 has. Thanks to the new features it will feel like a new game.

      • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

new bf3(oh, sorry, typo, I meant BF4): features: commander mode.

        • Asmitty56

          check again.

          • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

Fail, it is not a new game it is an add on or a better way of saying adding new features. D All the things you listed count as slight game changes(except commander) but they don’t make a new game.
P.S. I have not read a comment more “silly” than yours. Glats man(or sorry, kid)

            • Asmitty56

Well you’re obviously blind (or stupid). -64 players, 60fps confirmed with possibly 1080p is a big deal for consoles as well. Alone one or a few of these changes wont change the game play much. But all of it together makes a better and smarter game play. It’s more strategic and polished now. You have better team aspects to the game. And better vehicle balancing (disables are location based, can be left vulnerable when reloading in tanks, more AA vehicles and infantry possibilities, and buffs to the 50cal. and possibly main weapons.). Not to mention the possibility of changing the actual map itself.
But of well, it’s pointless to argue with someone who wont listen to logic. I suggest you go play some other game then.

            • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

You have 0 idea what you talking about. It is 720p, I suggest you to read before you post,(oh it is a kid I am talking with who has 0 idea what he writes about :) )
All your changes are called UPDATES( maybe your brain can manage to understand this, take you time with it)
And read my comment again, as you are not comprehending any of what I said.

            • Asmitty56

Some later reports said it was a possibility haven’t seen a confirmed 720p until I checked, not that it matters too much if you’re on a PC as you can upgrade to what ever you like. A kid huh? That’s funny I didn’t know 21 was still considered a kid.. maybe you shouldn’t make assumptions about something you clearly know nothing about. Maybe your brain can’t comprehend that these are a LOT of “updates,” that will over all change some of the play style of the game. Please enlighten me, out of the list I provided how many of them were included in Battlefield 3? Or better yet tell us what you expected Battlefield 4 to be like
Hey if you don’t like it you can always go play Call of Duty with the rest of the “kids” that like to argue about nonsense.

            • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

Wow, 21. Dude I feel sorry for your mental illness. I am not trying to offence you in any way, just constructing the facts.
All the things you listed are called updates which you yet seem to relize, but it is ok with your condition.
If you read my comment(which you did not, meanwhile still making a false assumptions;I hope you can understand a bit if possible).

            • Asmitty56

Run along lowly troll, you have no power here. (Going on the internet just to piss off other, may in fact say a lot about your mental illness).

And you still haven’t answered my question, why are you trying to dodge it?

“Out of the list I provided how many of them were included in Battlefield 3? Or better yet tell us what you expected Battlefield 4 to be like.”

            • Asmitty56

              Or better yet.

So Mr. Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka, what games ARE you actually excited about or plan on getting. Seeing as you are obviously not getting BF4, despite the fact that you are on a BF4 page

            • AtheistMason

Lol now what, argument between BF3 and 4, two installments in the same series?

              Get a life asshat

          • AtheistMason

@chmopyzatoehobrincyka:disqus poor guy, can’t even reply ya now. ” I laughed so hard at this” LOL

            • the greater gamer

Love how every one of his comments was deleted lol

            • AtheistMason

Most of all he didn’t even curse lol

    • Asmitty56

So basically with exception of how the game looks and the time line Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 are totally different.

    • AtheistMason

How come BF3 is a full version of BF4 lol

I’ve never seen such stupid-ass statement before

      • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

I could not except a comment with a common sense from a kid who is still at school. I laughed so hard at this D:
Get a life kid, do not bother with a stupid non sense ;)

        • SamRock

Dude.. what is there to laugh about in Mason’s comment?
Its you who is sounding like a pre-school.. coz you not making any sense!! The Thumbs down proves that

          • Chmopyzatoe Hobrincyka

Not making any sense by proving what happened bf4 with facts. Uhm, you better return to school cause :The thumbs down Prove, “not:proves” that.

Coordinate brain malfunction does inflict your thinking process. I feel for you, but don’t worry there handsome docs over there who can help you.
Was nice to have a conversation with you ;)

          • AtheistMason

            Now it’s the deleted :-D

Anyways enjoy your alpha trail, I have to wait for Sept :-(

Someone down voted my good fortune, oh well, back to the Alpha :P

    • buttfacebob545

I own every Battlefield known to man, and it even says so on my Battlefield account, and I have numerous hours on each game… I didn’t get invited… I don’t know what they mean when they say “dedicated” fans get invites

      • Kyle Jackson

I’ve only owned Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3, and when I got an invite for Battlefield 3′s Alpha, I couldn’t understand why either. I was out when I got the email, so I rushed back home and got on it.

    • Tom Brevik

I also got the email about alpha, but i do not have the alpha in my library? Do I have to preorder it?

DICE, PLEASE make the sound of the game as good as Bad Company 2, bcause the sound of bf3 was just crap in comparison to BC2

  • Tyler Dominick

Ya know im going to be here talking BF, and yes i have Alpha ( whooty ) to bad its a white-box alpha and this is more or less just testing base mechanics, gameplay, and i would assume net code.

  • Geoffrey Leung

Note to the editor, I think that you used the incorrect spelling of ‘ensure’–’insure’.

Motherfuckers, I did get sucked into getting that MOH pile of crap and got Premium but I still didn’t get a reach around for BF4. Not that I’ll hold it agains tthem as I love them DICE fuckers, but I wonder who you had to suck off to get in on the Alpha trials. I would have swallowed. :D
