List of Current Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Launch Titles, Exclusive and Multi-Platform

Enjoy what’s left of the Summer while you still can. Fall is coming and, with it, the next generation of console gaming. Not only are the big boys like Microsoft and Sony debuting their brand new home consoles, but some of the year’s biggest titles from franchises like Call of Duty, Battlefield and Assassin’s Creed will be tugging on your shirt for your attention and hard-earned dollars.

It’s easy to get caught up in the current flood of next-generation news, rumors, and hype surrounding features, policies, tech specs, and whatnot, but we all know that at the core of our excitement are the games. So, what exactly can we look forward to this fall when it comes to launch-titles?

A contributor over at Forbes recently rounded up the current line-up of launch titles, both exclusive and multi-platform, that we can expect to get our gamer hands on when the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 drop later this year. Let’s take a look at what’s currently on the table, keeping in mind that more launch-titles may be announced during Gamescom later next month in August.

Xbox One

Microsoft is launching the Xbox One this November with a line-up of Kinect-heavy titles, including games in the zombie, racing, fighting and action-adventure genres. It’s a little sad to see an Xbox launch without the presence of Master Chief (Halo), or any noteworthy first-person shooter, for that matter, but that doesn’t mean gamers won’t be getting their FPS fill this October/November. What excites me the most is to see how/if “The Cloud” and “Kinect 2.0″ will enhance my gaming experience in games like Forza Motorsport 5 or Killer Instinct, as well as to see the capability of the CryENGINE 3 on the Xbox One in Ryse: Son of Rome. The Xbox One’s launch-titles are:

  • Dead Rising 3 \ Capcom
  • Forza Motorsport 5 \ Turn 10
  • LocoCycle \ Twisted Pixel
  • Killer Instinct \ Double Helix
  • Ryse: Son of Rome \ Crytek

PlayStation 4

Sony’s line-up of launch titles features a heavier focus on free-to-play with titles like DC Universe Online and Warframe (which reports suggest may now be coming to the Xbox One as well). However, both aforementioned titles are also available on the PC, leaving only three true launch-exclusives on the PlayStation 4. Unlike the Xbox One, the PS4 is arriving with it’s very own flagship FPS, Killzone: Shadowfall. Also, Knack appears to be an eye-catching action-adventure title that will be showing off the Unreal Engine 4 for the first time on a console. The PlayStation 4′s holiday season launch line-up includes:

  • DC Universe Online \ Sony Online Entertainment
  • DriveClub \ Evolution Studios
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall \ Guerrilla Games
  • Knack \ SCE Japan Studio
  • Warframe \ Digital Extremes

Multi-Platform

If you find both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4′s launch-title line-ups a tad underwhelming, there are some big-hitters in the multi-platform department that are sure to grab your attention. Needless to say, we’re super pumped for Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts, but Ubisoft has got some impressive projects in the works with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch_Dogs as well. Sports fans also have four Major titles to look forward to with FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, NBA 2K14 and NBA Live 14. Check out the current list of multi-platform launch titles:

  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag \ Ubisoft
  • Battlefield 4 \ DICE
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts \ Infinity Ward
  • FIFA 14 \ EA Sports
  • Just Dance 2014 \ Ubisoft
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes \ TT Games
  • Madden NFL 25 \ EA Sports
  • NBA 2K14 \ Visual Concepts
  • NBA Live 14 \ EA Sports
  • Skylanders: Swap Force \ Vicarious Visions
  • Watch Dogs \ Ubisoft Montreal

What games will you be throwing into your shopping cart day one of the Xbox One or PlayStation 4′s release? Remember to check back next month when we’ll have more details on any new announcements from Gamescom.

  • Mitch

Every time I see the PS4 list, I feel shit about InFamous coming Q1 2014.

    • Ryupyroa

At least it’s Q1. Not TOO long to wait. It sucks seeing footage of a game and knowing it’s like 2 years away. I’m looking at you Bioshock infinite.

      • Aria68

Not to mention, SONY didn’t even talk about “Deep Down” and two other exclusive titles that are under development by ND and GG plus the game from Heavy Rain devs! (so this is 4 more exclusive titles)

        • Mr. Thuggins

Re-read the title and soothe your butt hurt.

          • Raymond Featherston

Re-read his comment and see there was no real anger or “butthurt” there, this thread did become about titles not included at launch before you reply and judge maybe you should read the conversation first.

            • Mr. Thuggins

There was no conversation when I commented on his comment. Make sure to check your time stamps before making assumptions.

Aria is a notorious Sony fanboy who is always makes certain that Sony is not slighted in the least, so excuse me for thinking that Aria was feeling some butt hurt when he/she decided to list titles that are not launch titles.

        • Laser0pz

Naughty Dog hasn’t announced any PlayStation 4 titles, Guerilla Games have Shadow Fall as a launch title and the only game that Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain devs) are releasing is Beyond: Two Souls which is on the PlayStation 3, not PS4.

          • Aria68

ND works on a game for PS4, GG also have a game in dev for PS4 (GG CEO said they have another game for PS4 but not mentioned what exactly), Heavy Rain devs registered a website before PS4 announcement called “SingularityforPS4″ and then they removed it, it was good enough evidence that like other 1st party devs mentioned above, they are also having their second title in works for PS4 … (But i don’t think any of them will release at launch, most probably they’ll be out by 2014)

            • Laser0pz

              Interesting, didn’t know that :O

I guess they didn’t bother announcing them because they’re not that far into development. I saw on Wikipedia that GG had another new IP that’s TBA. Another reason could be that Sony doesn’t want to announce everything at the start, and draw it out a bit so people don’t get ‘burnt out’ per se.

            • Aria68

That might be true as well, The very impressive tech demo that HR dev showed at E3 could be very well an indicator of what the Project Singularity would look like, which i think we are gonna see it either on Gamescom or E3 2014, ND certainly not in rush to impress the world with their master pieces since they just released TLOU and last but not least, this is the first time in a long that GG are making a non Killzone game for Playstation, i think they keep it under wrap and wait for the right time to show it … either way sony have many games and in E3 they didn’t seem to care alot to show all the had! but definitely 3 AAA games are coming up by 2014 for PS4.

            • WarBroh

Well if its on WIkipedia then it MUST be true

            • Rickman33

Information posted on Wikipedia has to have a citable source. If there’s any incorrect information, it gets revised/deleted. Someone can go on the page and edit it, but if the information isn’t accurate or citable, it gets taken down. Plus, your IP address is recorded, or you need to register. Wikipedia is a fantastic reference. I wish more people would donate!

          • Mitch

I have a feeling we might see Uncharted 4 at Gamescom, and it will be released Q2 or Q3 2014.

            • RECKLESSgoat

I would rather a new the last of us game instead, or if not then something new.

      • KiLLaMaNiLLa

You mean the Division not coming till holiday 2014 so why show it thats a long ass time to wait. But i can’t wait it was my favorite game i saw at E3 for third party games

      • asdf

zelda skyward sword took >5 yrs after its announcement, so bioshock doesnt hold a candle

  • Brad Barnes

every time I see one of these lists posted I cringe.. Every time and i mean every time each list leaves off half the PS4 exclusives as if they want to make things look even.

    PS4 has:

    Planetside 2
    War thunder
    BlackLight Retribution

All major titles that are actually free to play on PS4 Without PS+ also.

    • Ludum Locus

      Launch titles…

      • Brad Barnes

yes we know and 2 out of my three were still left off.

Planetside 2 and war thunder are launch titles on PS4

the only one still in question is Blacklight

        • Just saying

I don’t know if they announced PlanetSide 2 as a launch title but in E3 they said it won’t be a launch title but they’re working hard to get it on PS4 asap

    • Ryon Lee

those aren’t exclusives. do some research

      • Chad Eugene Rash

You do some research the bud. They are all Playstation exclusives. Nice try though.

        • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

They’re all PC *and* PS4 titles, is what he’s getting at.

        • xbox rules

Warframe isn’t a PlayStation 4 exclusive its also coming out for xbox one… so u do some research

          • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

At the moment, it *most likely* will come to Xbox One, in which yeah you could say it will considering what the devs themselves said after Microsoft reversed one of their longest lasting policies of self publishing

            • Ryon Lee

I like how he says exclusive to ps4 even though pc had it first.

            • jaskdavis

” longest lasting policies ” Well considering Xbox 360 does NOT have this policy and X1 is not even out before the policy took place then I would say it did not last long or even at all really…

          • QwietStorm

            Where did they confirm this?

            • xbox rules

Easy Microsoft major Nelson and mp1st.com joystick ign

            • QwietStorm

Could you link me to anything other than it being considered?

            • Mark Lenz

The developers of Warframe said it was a “possibility” but doesn’t mean it’s absolute. They still need time to look at Micro$oft’s new rules for self publishing.

At this point TitanFall has a better chance of coming out on PS4 than Warframe appearing on the XBone.

          • Mark Lenz

            Yes just like TitanFall.

            • xbox rules

Hey mark hate to bust up sony fanboys dreams respawn studio stated that it will not come out on ps4 only for the one and pc my source thier twitter account

            • Mark Lenz

You’re wrong as TitanFall is a TIMED EXCLUSIVE.

XBone has nothing worth while in terms of exclusives. Eat it up fanboy.

            • xbox rules

Yo sony fag boy show me where u got thiinfo u need to watch e3 again and the press conference the studio had will not come out on ps4 I

            • Mark Lenz

              Right here you idiot:
              http://www.gametrailers.com/full-episodes/aevcwo/gt-tv-titanfall

              Now go get XBone’d.

          • Rickman33

Warframe is currently only a planned PS4 release (other than currently being out for PC). The developers stated they will consider an XBox One release, but nothing had ever been confirmed as far as I know.

        • TheChunkyPotato

      • Brad Barnes

exclusive on console (which i would have thought you would already know) but I guess not. PS4 Console exclusives next time u research I always do mine.

        • Ryon Lee

Guess what guys they aren’t free to play you still have to pay subscription for the consoles. Have fun paying to play these games plus learning that most people are gonna pay to win on those

          • Brad Barnes

wow you seriously do some research. Free to play games on PS4 DOES NOT require a PS+ account to play them this has already been announced and confirmed a good while ago. But good job showing us you don’t have a clue what your talking about.

            • Ryon Lee

yo still need a subscription to go online dumb ass. that’s the work around for ftp on consoles.

            • Joseph

*facepalm that’s just for the xbox, but they will probably be sorting that out soon….I really want Warframe on the X1.

            • xbox rules

You gotta pay 50 a year for ps4 no more free online play for you.

            • Nobody
            • Rickman33

Those four games- Blacklight, Warframe, DC Universe, and Planetside- are free to play on the Playstation 4. They will not require you to be a Playstation Plus member.

    • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

I’m looking at confirmed *launch* exclusives here, not just exclusives in general. I’m fully aware of the PlayStation 4′s eventual list of exclusives. It’s pretty awesome.

      • Guest

Planetside 2 and BlackLight Retribution will launch with PS4. (Heard from their developers in interviews)

        • QwietStorm

          Blacklight is not confirmed.

          • KennyKyle

            yes it is

      • Brad Barnes

i’m not the enemy. However Planetside 2 and war thunder devs have both said a good while ago both games will be available on PS4 at launch or I would not have listed them.

        • Joseph

cite your source or nobody gives a shit.

      • Brad Barnes

I can link you the Planetside 2 Lead developers interview where he states it if you’d like

        • Just saying

I would like to see it

    • WarHero

Planetside 2 and War Thunder is probably not going to come to the PS4 until 2014,however Blacklight Retribution has a large chance of being a launch title.

    • ReeceGators

and xbox has titanfall, project spark, sunset overdrive etc. but those arent launch titles either

  • swipe_06

Wait. Killer Instinct has Kinect support? I cant wait to see some youtube footage of someone doing a full body motion ultracomoooooooooooo!

    • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

Haha. Not quite in that capacity. It will use facial recognition to push your preferred settings/controls to help set up games faster.

      • Mitch

That’s also the only good use Kinect will always have for me, facial recognition.

        • Just saying

I don’t know why I’m not as excited as you guys for Kinect. I guess I’ll have to wait and see it in person to get its features.

          • Mitch

I’m not excited for Kinect. I’m not even getting a Xbox One (any time soon). But IF I would ever get Xbox One, the only thing I would be a bit interested in with Kinect is loading date by Kinect looking at my face.

    • http://www.facebook.com/datkidfromawendaw Clay Johnson

The Kinect support being it’s able to save a players controller layout preferences when playing some split screen and it uses facial recognition to ID who’s holding the controller and quickly load that player’s preferences. MS implemented this, mainly because they intend Killer Instinct to become an eSports fighter and this should greatly speed up those intermission between matches

Edit: Oops, looks like David best me to it lol

      • http://mp1st.com/ David Veselka

        You explained it better :)

      • QwietStorm

But how would that work without every contestant’s profile being on the system beforehand?

        • swipe_06

Probably it stores the settings in the cloud.

        • ThtJstHapnd

          Cloud profile saves…..

    • QwietStorm

      Might as well watch Ridiculousness.

  • WarHero

I’m picking both of them when they release. If people ask why,it’s simple I’m a gamer and I like variety.

  • Joseph

AC4/BF4/Watch Dogs/Dead Rising 3 and possibly the Division (Still unsure about that one.) that is what I plan on buying for the X1..

  • Pingback: Gaming-News auf Scene-Gamers.de › PlayStation, Xbox One › By Tobias Heinen()

  • Just saying

I might be the only one in this thread that answered your question :D but here it goes. I’ll get PS4 + BF4 with PS+ bundle with killzone shadowfall, watch dogs, PS2 (if it’s a launch title like some said) and The Division (when it’s released). That’s my games collection for now :)

  • Justin Mckay

is a battlefield a confirmed launch title , I could have sworn they said it was coming out later?

    • Just saying

October for current gen and launch title for next gen. You can preorder PS4 + BF4 bundle today so that proves it.

      • Justin Mckay

truee do you guys know if they have a bundle for the one too or just for ps4?

        • RECKLESSgoat

They dont have bundles for the xbox one, they only have the day one edition so far.

          • Justin Mckay

            thats kinda poopy

            • RECKLESSgoat

              I know right!

    • Mr. Thuggins

It’s actually releasing before the next gen consoles.

    • RECKLESSgoat

I think that it comes out BEFORE xb1 and ps4, you know on 360, ps3 and PC…I think!

  • CaptainZwabber

War thunder is gonna be on launch PS4 as well

  • Mike

I want the Division most. Of course ill get Battlefield but The Division looks so good and its different for consoles. I love the idea and its a game you can basically play for years. I dont MMO’s or whatever they are because they look dumb but guns, loot and chaos, whats not to like? I’m looking forward to this game more than anything! You can keep Titanfall and Halo Xbox because ill take Killzone, Little Big Planet and infmaous. I never got to play those games coming from Xbox.

They should have put GTA 5 on next gen…

  • RECKLESSgoat

Xbox one with battlefield 4, watch dogs and Ryse: son of rome. I was gonna get the ps4 instead but the pre-orders ran out before I could reserv one -.-

  • falahcod

    Where the fuck is GTA!!!!!!
