One of the biggest surprises at The Game Awards for fans was the announcement of Elden Ring: Nightreign, a new online cooperative game, created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin

Let’s be honest, the trailer was a bit confusing. It wasn’t clear what the gameplay would be like, how many enemies would appear, or what the plot was about. However, Dark Souls fans quickly noticed the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3, leading to a lot of questions.

Elden Ring: Nightreign Will Include Dark Souls Enemies

In an interview with Famitsu, game director Junya Ishizaki confirmed that Nightreign will feature a small number of enemies from across the Dark Souls series. This is due to the influence of the Night King, which brings chaos into the world of Nightreign. Ishizaki explained that the inclusion of these enemies is part of the game’s theme of chaos, and the game’s setting in a parallel universe allows FromSoftware to nod to its past titles.

As for gameplay, Elden Ring: Nightreign will offer eight playable characters, each with their own abilities and stories. The game will also feature a new progression system where the world changes over three virtual days. The map will shift with new events, enemies, and points of interest each time you play. Additionally, the Spectral Hawk will help players find shortcuts and improve exploration.

In other Elden Ring: Nightreign news, the developers have confirmed that the game will not support crossplay, meaning players can only play with others on the same platform. However, cross-generation play within the same console family is supported. For example, PS4 and PS5 users will be able to play together.

In case you don’t know, Elden Ring: Nightreign will launch in 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
