After the release of Version 3.0 “The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings” in August, miHoYo (HoYoverse) has unveiled the Genshin Impact upcoming update 3.1 “King Deshret and the Three Magi” at Tokyo Game Show 2022! This title update features a huge new desert area in Sumeru, two new Normal Bosses, a new Mondstadt event called “Weinlesefest,” and the addition of Nilou, Candace, and the long-teased Cyno to the game!

HoYoverse and the famous Japanese animation studio Ufotable have also announced a new long-term collaboration, with a concept trailer teasing a Genshin Impact anime!

Genshin Impact: Upcoming Update 3.1:

Version 3.1 “King Deshret and the Three Magi” will feature the addition of a massive new desert area to the Sumeru region. This desert area will be home to the Mausoleum of King Deshret, Aaru Village, and new dangerous dungeons. Two new Normal Bosses will be added to the Sumeru Region: the Semi-Perpetual Control Matrix will guard the Mausoleum of King Deshret and has the ability to become invisible in combat, while the Aeonblight Drake will be placed in the earlier rainforest region and has unique attack patterns to challenge players. Both Normal Bosses will drop unique Character Ascension materials!

Two five-star characters and one four-star character will become playable in Version 3.1.

Nilou, Dance of Lotuslight, is a five-star Hydro Sword character and dancer at the Zubayr Theatre hailing from Sumeru. The General Mahamatra Cyno, Judicator of Secrets, is a five-star Electro Polearm character and the first male Electro character since Razor’s release. Lastly, Candace, Golden Vow, is a four-star Hydro Polearm character who guards the Desertfolk of Sumeru and Aaru Village. Her banner will come up first along with Cyno and Venti’s rerun in the first half of version 3.1, while Nilou and Albedo’s rerun will be the highlights of the second half.

Two new Archon Quests will be added to the game during Version 3.1, featuring the return of Fatui Harbingers Il Dottore and the fan-favorite agent of chaos Scaramouche!

The Mondstadt region will also be home to many events and festivities during Version 3.1, including the annual “Weinlesefest” event, celebrating the Anemo Archon! The quest for the event will explore Razor’s past and his parents’ relationship with the legendary Grand Master Varka. Weinlesefest will also feature a major limited-time seasonal event and four different mini-games with exclusive rewards like the Missive Windspear weapon and its refinement materials.

The patch features even more events, Domains, and exclusive rewards:

  • The new “Wind Chaser” and “Star-Seeker’s Sojourn” Domain events in Mondstadt
  • Free Collei unlock for players who complete Floor 4, Chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss
  • “Hyakunin Ikki,” a free-for-all combat Domain event in Inazuma
  • The return of the Daily Login event rewards, with a total of 1600 Primogems, 4 Fragile Resins, and two unique gadgets, “Jumpy Dumpty Party Popper” and “Cloud Retainer’s Damasked Device”
  • Two new five-star weapons: Staff of the Scarlet Sands (Polearm) and Key of Khaj-Nisut (Sword)
  • Four new four-star weapons: Xiphos’ Moonlight (Sword), Makhaira Aqumarine (Claymore), Wandering Evenstar (Catalyst) and the event-exclusive Missive Windspear (Polearm)
  • Dynamic terrain deformation and Elemental Burst haptics for DualSense controllers

Genshin Impact New Anime Project

HoYoverse has announced a new long-term collaboration with Japanese animation studio Ufotable, and has unveiled a concept trailer showcasing an anime representation of the world and characters of Genshin Impact!

HoYoverse has not explicitly announced an anime adaptation of Genshin Impact just yet, but players can definitely now expect one in the near future. Ufotable is the studio responsible for the beloved Demon Slayer and Fate/stay night anime series, and we’ll keep our readers posted with more details about this new long-term project!

miHoYo’s hugely successful gacha Genshin Impact is available for PC, PS5, PS4, Android, and iOS, with a Nintendo Switch release currently in the works. The game has full cross-save and cross-play functionality across all platforms, allowing for a seamlessly portable experience.
