It looks like CD Projekt RED is going to be quite busy for the foreseeable future, as not only has the studio confirmed that they are working on a new IP codenamed “Hadar,” but the studio also confirmed a new The Witcher trilogy is in the works, and even a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in development too!
This was all announced during today’s CD Projekt Group “strategy update.” It seems some of the work involved will be handled by third-party studios.

The Witcher project “Sirius” is being developed by The Molasses Flood, while the new Witcher trilogy is being helmed by CDPR themselves. There’s also the “Canis Majoris” project that’s being handled by a still-unnamed third-party studio. Alongside it, Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC is still being developed, though there’s a reason there’s only going to be one expansion for it, as project “Orion” is the sequel!
Alongside those, Project Hadar is a new standalone IP that’s “distinct” from both the Cyberpunk and Witcher franchises. CDPR shares that it’s been in incubation since last year. and is currently in the conceptual phase.
Here are more details regarding the project as summarized by the trustworthy Benji-Sales:
Incredible transparency from CD Projekt
• Phantom Liberty Exp: Final Production, 350+ staff
• Project Polaris: First Witcher Game in New Trilogy, 150+ current staff. All 3 Games released within 6 Years after Polaris launch
• Project Hadar: Pre-production started in late 2021 pic.twitter.com/WrMho3yKON— Benji-Sales (@BenjiSales) October 4, 2022
Bear in mind, given the state of these projects, and the fact that we just got confirmation that a new Witcher game is in development this year (this is Project Polaris), chances are high that it’ll be a long time before we see any of these games come to light.
Stay tuned to more CDPR news within the day, as more are bound to surface during the company’s presentations.
