Report: Xbox Game Pass Price Increase and Tier Changes Incoming
While Xbox Game Pass has been a tremendous value for Xbox owners, it seems Microsoft wants to get more out of its subscription service, as there’s a looming Xbox Game Pass price increase in the works alongside tier changes.
The info comes from a source with knowledge about the situation. While the actual amount or percentage of how much the price will increase hasn’t been shared, the source did mention that this will also affect day one games, and confirms that all tiers are getting a price increase.
For now, here’s the current Xbox Game Pass pricing and tiers (via IGN).

Over on ResetEra, Nate the Hate, who has leaked correct info in the past, also mentions the price and tier change as well.

As for when this Xbox Game Pass price hike is supposed to take effect, there’s no date or timeframe given to us, but there is a strong possibility that it takes effect around Call of Duty 2024’s launch window.
While a price increase is a bummer for any service, it’s hard to argue against the value of Game Pass. If and when Microsoft adds the Call of Duty catalog (with functional multiplayer) to the service, I gather that price hike will be a much easier pill to swallow. Having said that, this Xbox Game Pass price increase, coupled with the other bad press for Microsoft the company has been tainted with the past few days/weeks, won’t do the tech giant any favors.
Perhaps this price increase and tier change announcement will be part of the Xbox Games Showcase that’s set for June 9.
