Marathon Down on May 26 for Update 1.0.9.1

After today’s sudden server outage for Marathon and Destiny 2, Bungie’s extraction game is entering maintenance mode for a few hours, but intentionally this time.

For those trying to log in but can’t, it’s not just you, as Bungie has pulled the Marathon servers down on consoles and PC this May 26, and this is to roll out a new game update.

Marathon Down for Server Maintenance and Patch Roll-Out on May 26

Tuesday, May 26, 2026 — Update 1.0.9.1

5:00 AM PDT	UTC-7	Marathon will undergo maintenance. Sign-on will be unavailable. Players actively in runs will be able to complete them.
5:30AM PDT	UTC-7	Marathon will begin being brought offline for expected maintenance. Players will start being removed from activities.
7:00 AM PDT	UTC-7	The latest Marathon update is expected to become available across all platforms and regions.
8:00 AM PDT	UTC-7	Players are expected to be able to log back into Marathon. Players logging into the game may be placed in a queue and may experience sign-on issues as background maintenance is still ongoing.
9:00 AM PDT	UTC-7	Marathon maintenance is expected to conclude. Console players who encounter issues updating should restart their console and try downloading the update. Players who observe issues should report to the Marathon Help Forum.

In other, related news, Bungie is ceasing live content support for Destiny 2, and going all-in for Marathon. Time will tell if that’s the right call or not.
