No Man's Sky Update on May 27

Two months after the Xeno Arena update, Hello Games has today released the latest content drop for No Man’s Sky, and it’s called “The Swarm.”

Players will see today’s download as No Man’s Sky update 6.40/6.040, and this introduces a new threat, a new limited-time expedition and more.

This is a major update, so expect small ones to be released in the coming days and weeks that will fix any issues that might arise from the new content.

No Man’s Sky Latest Major Update Drops on May 27 and It Brings New Enemies

While the official patch notes aren’t out yet, here’s what Hello Games has to say about the update:

No Man’s Sky The Swarm introduces rival teams, new enemies and exclusive rewards in a time-limited expedition.

  • A new threat has surfaced. ZThe Traveller soul is fragmented and something terrible hangs in the sky.
  • Royal, Sage, and Weaver Travellers must work together to face the threat to reality…
  • …but only one of these fragments will be commemorated in the Space Anomaly for all time.
  • Uncover the mystery of the Hive of Glass, banish it from this reality and earn the dramatic Direwasp customization set!

Expect the full changloge to be released within the day, and once that’s out, we’ll update the article with the info.

This seems to be an Expedition update, which might not be for everyone, but a new content drop is still something to be happy about, right?

Again, just a reminder: expect bugs and whatnot to be part of the new content, though it should be sorted out ASAP given Hello Games’ excellent bug-swatting abilities.

In other gaming news, we uncovered a new PlayStation patent that aims to make wait times for matchmaking and loading a lot less boring.
