PS5 Update 26.04-13.40.00.02 Released
Just two days after Sony’s big State of Play, a new PS5 system update has been released, and this brings the console firmware to version 26.04-13.40.00.02 (or 26.04-13.40).
While the timing might seem like this is a significant firmware patch, it’s not, as it’s more for backend security improvements.
Players will see the download clock in at 1.2 GB on PS5 and PS5 Pro.

In April, Sony released a firmware that was more than just for stablity, and included the following additions:

- We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
Chances are, we’ll see another major update before the year is over, but we’ll see it be tested in beta first. Once we know more about that, we’ll let our readers know.
When it comes to State of Play, the big news here is the official reveal of God of War Laufey, which included 20 minutes of gameplay. Marvel’s Wolverine was also shown off, and it confirmed a lot of Marvel characters that will appear in the action game.
Expect a lot more gaming news this week, as Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Showcase are set to reveal a slew of new titles.
